were either play that looked like PI really penalties on replay? and on the West TD they reviewed the spot ,seemed like it should have been more like 1 ft than 1 yd.. a couple massive holds that the refs missed on Bromley. also a couple intentional groundings that seemed missed as well.

The PI's were clearly missed. The spot I think was accurate.

He was outside the tackles on the questioned grounding. The one they called, he was inside the tackles. The one PI on the pass to Broyld wasn't PI IMO. The pass hit the back of the defender and under thrown .

The PI on the sideline with Broyld was definitely Pass Interference, not even close. Now, it was a terrible play, and it would have been an unfortunate call to have to make, but the rules are the rules. The D player hit Broyld WELL before the ball got there and was not making a play on the ball.

What about the PI call against us where the pass bounced about a foot in front of the Wake kid? Some very strange calls and obvious non calls as well. They waited forever to make the intentional grounding call - I really didn't think they were going to make that obvious call.

Was that from watching it live?

Because on replay (on my TV anyway), the ball was thrown exactly to where Broyld was standing. And the only reason Broyld didn't catch it was because he was tackled before the ball got there. It was bad. TV guys were as confused as we were about the no call.

In that ref's defense, he didn't do anything fast today. I think he single handedly added about 30 minutes to that game, trying to find his microphone button, trying to think what to say.

Gedney on the radio was going crazy and I think he's usually pretty even keeled.

both were clearly interference. The spot should have been a foot closer on west's play.

It was clearly interference but it was an awkward looking sort of interference (maybe because he got there so early) that it might not have registered in the ref's mind. Or it was a sucky ref who blew two PIs in a row deep sideline.

That was the clearest pass interference call in the history of college football! Hyperbole aside, watch the replays on TV -- it is about as blatant as it gets. Ball was on the way down, Broyld could have caught it, and the dude creamed him (before it hit his helmet).

An awkward looking sort of interference? No idea what that means. All I know is that it was probably one of the worst no-calls I've ever seen. I'd like to know what the refs were looking at.

the one they called on us the pass seemed so short it was uncatchable , but did he interfere enough to make it land so short?

Yeah, it looked like if not for the holding, he might have been able to make a play on the ball.

Live, I didn't know if it was interference but it looked to me like targeting a defenseless player.

I kinda know what Toga is getting at though. Hunt was being chased backwards and to the sideline, so the odds that his desperation heave would get near any receiver were about 1 in a million. Just happened to be that 1. And the ball seemed to hang up there forever. I couldn't believe it was going to land right where Broyld was and was going to be in bounds.

Having said that, refs aren't fans, so as the play happened, you can't make some judgement call like that. He very clearly tackled a receiver before the ball got there. The whole thing was basically in slow motion for the refs. One of the strangest no calls I think I've ever seen.

I didn't catch the replay of the one to West, but I know Shafer was sure to let the ref know about 10 times after it that he was 0 for 2.

U iz kerrect

I'll have what bees is smoking. It was completely PI and wasn't even close.

the good thing about playing Pitt and BC to finish the year is that they aren't southern teams so we should get a fair shake from the refs.

That's what I saw.

Agree & I was impressed that the TV guys were actually trying be balanced in their commentary throughout the game.

I took note of that too, especially since they seemed so biased in past games. Their attitude previously was as if SU was a non-conference game for their ACC opponent. Maybe that old lady in the booth said something to them.

Seemed like for a change they actually did their homework prior to the game!

Was absolutely Pass Interference. Watch the tape again.

Guy in front of me said the one ref made a signal with his arm to indicate the receiver (Broyld) had stepped out of bounds, which would have made him ineligible. I haven't seen the tape yet, but could this have been the case on the PI no-call?
