What do the NCAAs tell us about the portal and NIL?

It's been an "off with their heads" tournament.

All the one seeds are gone, (including Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette) and three of the four 2 seeds are as well. We've all been wondering what the impact of the portal and NIL will have on college sports: will the rich get richer and separate themselves from the rest, (which could be happening in football). or will Les Miserables found a republic with all the veteran talent they can now get their hands on? My feeling is that we're expericning the early returns on the proatal but we haven't really felt the full impact of NIL yet.

If you are a 2nd tier school like Rutgers you are probably better off gathering donations for 5 years and buying a team for one year rather than having a small yearly pot to buy 2nd tier players.
