...now that the B1G and Pac are forming a consortium, it may be time for the ACC to get very active in thinking of what they may want to do going forward. A few options could be (BBall rules over FB)
1. Form its own network...depending on its own expansion and/or coordination with another conference...will depend on teams and/or conferences to determine geography
2. Go strong after Notre Dame and Texas...the two most noted brands out there at this time...since they would feed off each other getting one may lead to getting both---and would expand footprint geometically
3. Do a similar conference consortium with the Big12...that brings in very good bball teams as well as gives Notre Dame something to think about in joining the ACC...ND get choice of other team to bring in
--SEC not conference to match up with because of lack of bball powers and football would dominate ACC
I think the B1G made a mistake going west...the ACC is better positioned due to demographic growth and population centers...outside of california of course. The ACC cannot sit on this potential opportunity for long...so I expect something to happen within the next year.
Additionally, it is difficult to believe that the BE by going west started a trend...out of cheer studpidity and accidental tactic... what do you think
