What I Would Like to See vs Colgate

I’d like to see a higher than anticipated crowd turn out. Fitzpatrick being a CNY guy, hopefully thats an additional draw. Every high school football player in a 50 mile radius should be in attendance.

It comes down to the basics. We need to see all players on the field acting like they want to be there and know what they are doing.
ERob needs to figure out a different style of defense, why not what we used in the 2nd half vs. UCONN. Why don't we disguise some blitzes, move people late etc.
Offense need to get the line and QB into a good rhythm.

They're going to keep it simple for Colgate and break out the creative stuff for Clemson. I hope attention to detail is the focus this week.
Agreed. I also think we see 3-4 deeps early and often. Expecting all kinds of combinations of guys all over the place on both sides. Also tinkering with guys in different positions.

I want to see a less sloppy game but with that much rotation there’s bound to be plenty of miscues.

Sorry Rickie people but don’t expect him until the under 4 garbage time when Colgate puts in walkons. It’s nothing against him that just how Fran plays it.

What do I want to see vs Colgate...

I want to see a team playing with a chip on their collective shoulders. A team playing with a purpose and the a purpose is to prove to the fanbase and themselves that they are better than what we saw last week against UConn. Not taking anything away from Jim Mora's squad. Their players outplayed, out hustled and out-gutted our guys until very late in the game, and in many ways they outcoached our coaches. If this program is going to be relevant again on a national level, that can never happen. This week will show me if the culture changes and DART have actually taken root or if much of what we see and hear is merely performative.

On offense I want to see I want to see guys playing hard and finishing plays. I want to see running backs fighting for extra yards, receivers who go in motion across the formation with a purpose (no sauntering with your mouthpiece flapping around like you're no ready). I wan to see linemen finishing blocks and driving guys all the to the parking lot. No more three steps and watching the play. And when plays are coming to and end I want o see more Syracuse players pushing pile than Colgate players. Play like it matters.

Scheme wise; ATTACK. Don't get cute and outcoach yourself. Get the points when and where you can. Go for it on 4th down, but if you're having trouble converting then by all means gets the points.. The team with the most points wins not the team with the most 4th down conversions. Don't forfeit momentum to try and prove your balls are bigger than theirs. Take a few deep breaths before you make the play call. Make sure you're getting blood and oxygen to your brain not just your groin.

On defense I want to see the MOB mentality again. I want to see players who take every yard gained as a personal affront. I want to see a defense that plays with an attitude. A defense that plays for each other and rallies to the ball to help their brother drive the opponent into the ground. When a play is coming to an end and its time to push the pile, I want to see eleven guys pushing the pile.

Scheme wise, who are we? Are we a 4-2-5 team, a 4-3 team or a nickle team? We seemed to run a lot of 4-3 last week. When we did, UConn recognized it and try to exploit the third LB who was in instead of a STAR or third CB (nickle). IMO, we rotated too much and too often last week. Playing as a team as a unit requires a degree of familiarity with the man next to you. Too mush rotation often leads to instability. While developing depth is important, developing a "team" mentality and not needing OT to beat UConn is also important. I want to see 11 guys hunting, not fishing.

In the end, play inspired football and leave no doubt early.
