this is not a rip on Deleone and Pasqualoni, I swear it. Back in those days, spread em out and have the qb run out of the shotgun wasn't a design. options were mostly pitches. The game changed a lot and I don't blame them for being 10 - 15 years ahead of the rest of the world.
We kinda had a glimpse of it with our shotgun to mcnabb who does something awesome third down offense.
but can you imagine those skill players in a Chip Kelly offense? mcintosh would've flourished. how would you defend the zone read option with mcnabb going one way, konrad another, mcintosh going the other with harrison, johnson, and or spotwood going down field
harrison and johnson going in motion and taking zone read handoffs
maybe we would've seen the zone read freeze option.
i'm sure lots of teams could do this what if but my god.
this isn't saying that offense wasn't really good then as it was. i know how any post about that era will get perceived. it's just fun to think about players and systems from different eras.
