What is wrong with the paper?

Well, my uncle was a Newhouse grad and was basically a "lifer" at the PS (though admittedly he also wrote for magazines and did some other freelance stuff too).

Sorry, that was an overbroad generalization. And of course - especially when it had local competition - the Post-Standard used to be a fine publication.

For over a decade, though, it's been trash, despite the efforts of some very capable and dedicated staffers.

I said this before the world of journalism has become a first in time industry. When the Chicago Tribune published the address of Steve Bartman in 2003 they were culpable in my mind for any harm done to Mr. Bartman. With Syracuse Post Standard doing the same thing is unbelievable and reckless. Also, Mr. Schwarz has failed Journalism 101 when reporting a story never publish a 2 story without 2 independent sources. He is NOW to cover his butt trying to claim that because the stepbrothers are now all of a sudden not close this means he has 2 independent shame on ESPN for even publishing this without vetting the sources more than the Syracuse PS did and not even reporting the money Mr. Fine had lent out to the complaining witness. ESPN isn't acting as the news source of the story they are ACTIVELY part of the story and honestly I am disgusted with Mr. Schwarz and am REALLY angry at him. This story has Mary Mapes-60 Minutes 2 story about George W. Bush's military service written all over it.

That's the thing. Most people won't go to the effort of looking up the address but when it's handed to them on a silver platter, they look at it and say what the hell, grab their torches and do something stupid.
