It was the laziest move. In 2014 Clemson was not yet Clemson. If you swapped FSU-Miami and VA Tech-SU then you have even divisions and an even zipper format.

2017 Clemson vs GA Tech (5-6) instead of Miami (10-1) which is a lot worse
2018 Clemson vs Pitt (same)
2019 Clemson vs UVA (same)
