Could be any team.

State your choice and why.

I think it's between Michigan and PSU. This are two Northeastern powerhouses that are falling. I think this is a good time to try to get them on our schedule and work towards beating them in the national spotlight. These programs are ripe for the picking. We had PSU last year, unfortunately it was one of our most disappointing performances, I know we all wish we could have back, last season.

This will improve not only our recruiting but also the possibility of being nationally ranked. It's good for the ACC as well.

Like the PSU call would go for Il and possibly Northwestern

National Teams: Michigan, Notre Dame, Northwestern, Michigan St., tOSU, Penn St., Illinois, Purdue, Georgia, Tennessee, Florida, Maryland, Vandy for Recruiting. Other schools if available (USC, UCLA, Texas, etc...) should always be considered as available for TV/branding reasons.

Academy Teams: You play Army, Navy for Recruiting and Army, Navy and USAFA anytime out of respect. One for Ones always. However a 1-1-1 with Army/Navy can work too. The extra game for Yankee Stadium, Baltimore, etc...

Wannabe National Teams: Rutgers, USF/UCF, ECU Home and Homes are ok

Mid-Majors (Should be 2 for 1 or 3 for 2): UConn/UMass, Temple, Akron, Kent St, Toledo, Bowling Green, Ball St, NIU, E/C/W Michigan, UMass, SUNY Buffalo, Old Dominion/James Madison (ODU is upgrading and I think JMU is about to), and finally MTSU. UConn I would consider a 1-1-1 (Yankee Stadium)

1AAs: Since these are at home...not much impact on recruiting

TexanMark Approved List for Road Trips:
(Some of these games are of dubious benefit for recruiting but are outstanding for fan travel. I want fun, touristy things to do, weather considerations and finally a higher chance for a victory.) Most of these games are okay to do a home n home since they offer a nice trip for all involved.

1. Tulane
2. USF: TBD on how easy it will be but superior location overrules
3. UCF: TBD on how easy it will be but superior location overrules
4. FAU/FIU
5. UTSA/Texas St
6. Houston
7. Hawaii (game around Thanksgiving time and when Cuse is scheduled to play hoops at the same time in Hawaii)
8. Memphis
9. FIU/FAU
10. Southern Miss/South Alabama (close to NOLA)
11. Louisiana (In Lafayette nee: SW LA)

Finally, it is still TBD if the coaches are going to dip into Texas. If they do scheduling winnable TX roadtrips against North Texas, UTSA, Texas St, Houston and Rice would be prudent.

do you think SU could ever compete with Texas Tech or TCU? Seem to be the weaker of the 4 big Texas schools.

Respectfully, that question should not be asked. We should be able to go toe to toe with any team. We have w winning record v. Texas. If we want Texas exposure and/or recruits, UT and TAMU must be included in the rotation. They will not be as often as Mark's suggestions but they are the marquis teams.

Also, TTech is not really as good as they are hyped. Dig into their competition and scheduling. Similar to VATech taking advantage of playing Miami while down in the Big East and ACC.

Texas Tech is at the end of the world (literally) ;-) They are a last resort type home n home.

TCU could be added to the Fun List (DFW) but also make the Main List if the coaches go to Texas more for recruiting.

How about Arizona and ASU?

Too far west?

They fall under the schedule if offered type team (Pretty Big Brand Name with great TV possibilities)...but recruiting is not too much of a factor which is your original question. They would make great trips in Oct/Nov though for fans. The problem is Cuse historically does poorly playing out West.

Chicago area. Just look at the assistant coaches and their connections (as well as a healthy number of our recent recruits). Looking at Northwestern, ND, Wisconsin, Northern Illinois.

Maryland, Georgia or Florida and Notre Dame.

Maryland has lots of top flight talent and the recruits are not indoctrinated for State U the way kids are in places like Pennsylvania and Ohio.

Georgia and Florida are loaded with second tier players we target.

Notre Dame is a national opponent (nationally televised) in the neighborhood of the players we are really targeting.

those are short term thoughts as staff changes...rutgirls and PSU fits longer term stratagies

Hawaii. Sell incoming recruits on the fact that they'll get to travel to a tropical island with all expenses paid. Most likely wouldn't have that opportunity otherwise and our coaches could grab a flight south to Samoa and recruit some 300 pounders with warrior power.

Our O-Line and D-Line would be absolutely intimidating.

I think we could be doing a better job recruiting the state of Ohio. A game against any of - Miami of Ohio, Akron, Kent State, Ohio, Bowling Green or Toledo- should help raise awareness in the state and be a very winnable game.

or tOSU

I have no idea what the future holds but based on this year, any team in Illinois, even Big10 Illinois, they aren't that coveted instate in my opinion like Wisconsin. Of course Florida, but we play Fla St every year and Mia once in a while. OK, Georgia but we play Tech but like Miami once in a bit. There is also NJ. Does NJ mean Rutgers or Penn State? Just thinking out loud.

Pragmatic answer:

Rutgirls.

So we can talk about NJ not for these failing but well-intended MetLife games, but to reignite ourselves in the State. We play in Florida, PA, VA and Georgia somewhat. NJ is what we need to buoy the contacts we have...and need to build.

Winning the NJ and western PA kids could help us win some of the NYC kids.
