If Friday’s ruling gives athletes the extra year than the schools have given kids every opportunity and made it a 100 percent choice . That being said it makes all the sense in the world to play up to 5 games for free and then make a choice to continue . Except for the virus it’s a free trial with no risk sure the virus is a risk but basically if a player plays he isn’t really afraid of the virus now that they aren’t feeling “forced “ to play for scholarships or eligibility. I say tee it high and let it fly !
Sounds to good to be true . What say you ?

I think some players felt forced to play, or lose the year. Seniors may have felt their careers were over, unless they played. This would take care of that. It also looks like a free year, so at any point they could opt out if they felt it wasn't worth their health(or family's). If it passes? Players won't feel forced .

Don’t need kids risking their health and potential pro careers for a season that’s increasingly getting a bigger and bigger asterisk next to it. I know kids will do anything to play, but the schools/NCAA/etc. just do not have this figured out

I have a feeling, when considering the below, cuse may MAJORLY benefit from a year off to 2021.

-New coaches
-new tweaks to the system
-missed practices
-depth issues
-we’re in a pandemic

-positive feedback from our players about our coaches that may attract transfers and croots here.

In the short term? Sure. Long term? Its good for us.

To echo trueblue:

Take a guy like Servais. If he gets injured, or feels he needs another year of film? He's coming back. Thats a win. ALL of them get another year of developement, and we're more of a developmental program at the moment.

Short term? Could be ugly, but I'll give the Mulligan.

Long term? It could be one of the best things to happen for us.

TOTALLY AGREE!!!!! i think its ridiculous to put players health at risk. with any luck a vaccine may be in the offering in the near future. football does not mean that much to me. as an aside it may be beneficial to many players from and academic standpoint.
i hope the season is cancelled as well. i will miss it, but willingly, like many others.

SU has recruited a high level DB. With a possibility that Williams and/or Cisco go pro, he could start his freshman year. Unless the upperclassmen opt out this year; then that new player, and others like him, have to wait another year to get on the field. Will they stand for that, or look to another school with more immediate opportunities?

How does this impact recruiting? Are teams still allowed to have 85 scholly players? If so, that hurts current HS players because there won't be nearly enough spots. So, in theory, more talent gets passed on from the big schools, so we get to pick up the crumbs. Problem is that these big schools can REALLY concentrate their talent for the next several years.

Also, how does this impact NFL Draft eligibility... is it still 21 years old?

as i said its just my opinion, take care of the players first---with that as the goal the rest can be worked out.i do not believe there is a compromise with covid-19 until a vaccine. i ask myself would i let my kid play?? absolutely not.
