What was the worst game ever played at the Dome?

I feel like Ellis caught it in the middle of the court and passed to Bennett for the 3.

I remember watching that game as a kid. Billy Owens made a great left handed shot in the lane with a few seconds left to give us the lead and what looked like the win.
You're correct, Holt hit the winner.

Feb. 17, 1990 - Digger Phelps breaks into a impromptu "Victory Skip" en route to shaking hands with Syracuse head coach Jim Boeheim after Elmer Bennett's three-point basket at the horn gives the Irish a 66-65 upset of #4 Syracuse in the Carrier Dome. That triumph keys Phelps' 14th NCAA Tournament bid at Notre Dame.

I was at that Navy game. Horrible.

I was too. Horrible game but it was kind of cool watching Robinson dominate like that. he was all over the court.

for me the worst was the last home game with GTown, because it was my kid's first game and as a 3-year old at the time even he knew georgetown sucks

That game was completely my fault. We were up 9, and then I showed up.
The place was a mausoleum after the game. I stayed for the next game I think it was Ohio U and St Joes. A met up with a buddy from town who was home on break from Ohio U.
My eyes watched the game but my brain did not

The Paul Harris Pitt debacle. I swear I still to this day have no clue how we lost that game.

2007/2008 era when Notre Dame dropped a hundo on the Cuse

Without a doubt that 08' Pitt game. First dome game I have ever been to... Up 12 with 2 mins to go and just a royal choke job. I was so pissed off the rest of the trip. Win that game and they're in, lose and they're out and they blew it

That was no doubt the worst last 2 minutes of a game ever.

2006-2007.

The Pitt game in 2004 was depressing since we were pretty good and ended up collapsing in the second half and losing by 21.

But we redeemed ourselves by closing down the Pete a month later.

The WVU game in Burgan's Sr year when the game started something like 21-0.

?

We beat wvu by fifteen that year.

Edit...We got destroyed by them the year prior when they put up like 102 tho.

One that sticks out because I happened to be there and I don't get back much was a Monday game vs Notre Dame in 2004. They just destroyed us from start to finish. We were never in it.

But the worst ever, I don't care if it was away, was the DePaul game in 2006.

Of course it was awful for a different reason, but did anyone go to the game the day of the Pan Am tragedy? I can only imagine what the atmosphere was like.

Surprised no one mentioned the LeMoyne game (or exhibition?). I had front row seats for that and the Pitt debacle. So everyone can blame me for both.

Navy without question. We had a final four team that year. I sat in my seat in rhe dome for 20 minutes after the game ended blankly staring at nothing

That was probably the worst I have felt after an su loss, laid in bed the rest of the day, I don' think I ate till the next day.

Different categories:

Worst game.: Florida State in the '97 NIT. 5,000 fans in an arena that could seat 5-6 times that. The scoreboard wasn't working. The team didn't want to be there and played like it. The Noles were the essence of mediocrity and won easily. It was a year after we lost a valiant battle to a Kentucky team with 9 future NBA guys for the national title. The 'Cuse wasn't in the house a year later.

Biggest hosing: Navy '86. They attempted 54 free throws. We attempted 21. David Robinson committed about 9-10 fouls but didn't foul out until 30 seconds were left. Yet all you heard about was what a great game he played and how he was unstoppable. By the way the free throw attempt count in the earlier Notre Dame was 18-49. But that one didn't matter like the Navy game did.

Spear in the chest game: 1988, Georgetown. Sherman Douglas hits the apparent game-winner and then, with no time out, Charles Smith comes down and hit the real one at the buzzer. Mike Lupica crows that this proves who the best point guard in the Big East is.

Most deflating game: Losing the 24 point lead to UMASS in 2008. Yeah, it was an NIT game but Boeheim-bashers ruled the board in a 21-14 season and when we were up 24, I felt that at least they'd be silent after this game. Then everything bad that could happen does and we lose. I don't even know what was posted on the board afterward because I didn't bother reading it for a week.

SU teams typically play hard, so the nights they didn't seem to stick out to me:

1997 Florida State
2011 Seton Hall
2006 Cincinnati
December 1996 West Virginia

also, 1999 (or maybe 1998) Providence (the night we got behind about 18-0) and 1990 Notre Dame

No one mentions a #1 SU team losing to friggin' BC last year?

We lost to UMass twice that season. And we had huge leads both times. Very depressing.
Pitt game with Paul Harris had me almost destroy a TV, so that had to the worst home game.

I didn't see the Navy game on TV (or in person), but it hurts because we owned them earlier in the season and we were playing a tourney game in our own building. You can't lose when you are gifted with that.

FYI i think it was 11 with 4 min to go

That 2nd half was unbelievably bad. I think they were up 30 at 1 point.

Ah the classic 49-46 OT basketball win. Beautiful!
