What would it take for Dion to take Scoop's starting spot?

It seemed like the starting 5 was in forever at the beginning of the 2nd half. Dion and CJ are 2 of our 5 best offensive players. I think at least one of them should start eventually. Of the starting 5 KJo is the only player I'm comfortable with creating his own shot. Other teams may notice that also. MCW is quickly becoming the #2 player I'd like to see driving to the hoop. He has touch and control on his drives. He's going to be something else by January.

If we're just talking starting, it would require an enormous -up by Scoop or Triche, beyond his on-court play (academics, conduct, fighting with JB etc).

Minutes, as others have alluded to, are a different and more important story. Fab Melo retained his starting job well into last season even though some nights he wasn't even getting 10 minutes. Just one year prior Triche was the starter throughout the season, though Scoop played more minutes. Billy Edelin joined the team ~14 games into the year as a one-year-delayed freshman and ended up taking PT from Duany and Pace. It wouldn't be unprecedented to see Dion end up playing as many as or more minutes than either of the current starting guards if he proves to be too good to sit.

I'm fine with the situation as is. All four will be needed at different times and each is familiar with their role as it is. If you pull a 5th year guy that has been a starter maybe you take a chance that you lose him mentally. Would he be weak and/or selfish if that ended up being the case? Yeah, but why take the chance when you don't have to. Dion will get his minutes and he'll start next year. I'm just glad that we have so many guys that can be contributers.

I still say, we will need him come big games in the Big East, when the lights are brightest.
This.
My gut feeling is that Scoop will "turn it on" when those bright lights come on. Hope my gut is right.

Admittedly, Scoop's "bad" plays this year have mostly been on passes. It's not like he's jacking shots he shouldn't be or forcing the drive to the hoop. This leads me to think you may be right.
