Is there something else going on in Syracuse the Friday of the Pitt game?

I'm making my first trip up to the Dome since 2006 and for the life of me cannot find a hotel for that Friday night. I mean like everything is sold out. Very weird. The Dalai Lama is there Tuesday. Are people really getting up there Friday for the Lama?

Did you try the 2 fairly new hotels in Dewitt? Hampton on Erie blvd or holiday inn express on enterprise pkwy?

Big hitter the Lama, everyone wants to see that.

My buddies have always had decent luck with the Knights Inn in Liverpool with last minute reservations on parents weekend in the past. Not the greatest place but close to 81

Yeah most likely but if you need a room...better than your car. I don't live up there anymore but I remember driving Rt11 and thinking 1 or 2 of them didn't look that bad for a cheap, roadside motel...and they all are in a safe area.

I would recommend The Sweetheart Inn. Great hourly rates.

I stayed at the Best Western in Cortland 2 years ago for the Pitt game. It was clean and had free breakfast buffet. EZ on-off of 81. If you can't get a room in Syracuse, and you're coming from the south, this isn't bad. You could also look into Skaneateles, if you've got a little $$$ to spend. There are plenty of decent places there and it's a 1/2 hour away. Also gives you something to do before heading home on Saturday or Sunday.
