What's the ideal timeframe for a new coach to be named?

at that point if the new guy would like to hire marrone to coach his OL...i would have no problem with that.

The promises will need to be baselined in blood.

Lets be real, Mark Coyle came in here thinking about his next football coach. Obviously he had to wait out Shafe and see how he did...but bottom line, he knew he was being brought in to help turn this football program around. Through this season I am sure that he has been watching the landscape and altering his "short list". As the season went and as the realization that a change was going to eventually need to be made, he started to solidify and put out feelers on said list.

I would imagine he has a very real idea of who he wants (prly narrowed to 3) and who he believes that he can get. I would imagine the decision as to who the coach is going to be will be made next Sunday. The announcement of that decision...could be made a week or 2 later.

My opinion.

I'd like to see a hire by 12/12, if at all possible. Whoever is brought needs to be given a chance to recruit some kids to fit their system.

Even though today is a bittersweet day, I'm getting excited again.

I agree completely. He knew he was bringing in a new coach unless Shaf had a very good year. Just have this gut feeling that he knew what he was doing the whole season and already had his wish list primed up.

NLIs are due on feb 5th. You would imagine we'd want the coach to have at least 60 days to work on keeping/adjusting the current class. That would mean we'd need a coach by early December, but that seems rather abrupt. What's everyone's feeling on when we'll hear?

As soon as Rutgers makes Flood available
