whats with malachi's drives

We are blessed to have Malachi on this team. I have a feeling he is going to end up the best player from this team. If we didn't have Malachi we wouldn't have won 10 freaking games!!

I think scouting reports are recognizing that Malachi doesn't drive left. He might juke left but is never a threat to attack the baseline going left. It's a glaring weakness in his game now that it's on film. Smartly coached teams like Louisville know they can shade and not worry about defending the backdoor.

This may have been mentioned in another thread somewhere, but has it been discussed why Mal totally passed up his jump shot on Saturday? I like when he drives as well, but he passed up some wide open looks - very unlike him...

He can be a slick interior passer on his drives.

I know - he has good vision. I would imagine that attitude - looking to distribute off the bounce, contributes a bit to him being more of a finesse guy around the rim.

Unfortunately, both of them finish poorly and are shaky on resulting FTs as well. What drills are there to improve finishing moves?-VBOF
Just like with any moves, practicing the moves over and over are the drill. Increasing the finishing options helps too. Way back in the 70s and 80s, as guards and small forwards, we were taught to stop and shoot the short jumper (off the glass) when the defensive help arrived. In other cases, go with the reverse layup. The situation should dictate how you finish. But, there have to be options in the Arsenal if you can't physically over power the defender at the rim.

Thanks for answering. I'm just remembering Devo's ability to finish with either hand and Moten's seeming ability to turn any garbage shot into a basket. Spoiled, I guess.-VBOF
