What's your "pre-game warmup" tonight?

I have some Jack but never heard of Third Shift. I've worked 3rd shift though, and let me tell you, it can either make drinking inconvenient, or lend to it, depending on the situation. Either way I love the name and things labeled as lagers in general(I've read it's all lager or ale), and thus would realllly like to find this 3rd Shift Lager and give it a shot. Like Steinbeck, Ive always had a place in my heart for the downtrodden, and 3rd Shifters rank pretty high in their. Kudos my friend!
I was introduced to it when I moved down to The Triangle. It's brewed in Raleigh and a lot of the local bars have it as a cheap alternative. It's basically a Bud Light type beer with real beer taste for the same price. I was introduced to it when I tried to order a Yuengling. The bartender offered me a Third Shift instead, and I really liked it.

Now that's a story I like to hear!! I wish I had copied and pasted stuff like this over the course of my career and then compiled them artfully as material which other stuff would grow from for a book. I can see art in life sometimes even if you didn't intend it. I am a bit slow to understand things at times though(I try to be humble), so what did you mean by "tried to order a Yuengling"?

Haha being a guy from the Northeast, I ordered a Yuengling during one of my first times out and about drinking after moving down to Raleigh. The bartender had luckily heard of Yuengling, and although it wasn't a beer his bar stocked, he sold me a Third Shift. It's an amber lager with a flavor very similar to Yuengling's lager. I wouldn't be shocked to see its national appeal increase over the next decade. I just picked up a 12 pack tonight in the Wal-Mart in Northeast Raleigh.

Nice!! It's good when someone recognizes your home brew. I looked it up on the official website and it said there was nothing in stock either store or bar within 50 miles of me here in Colorado. Oddly, in the rather tiny drive thru LQ up the street from me, I decided to look in an area I never look(expensive beers) because some folks were loitering in my cheap beer corner. Lo and behold what did I see in front of me? A six pack of UC(Utica Club) Light!! (I'm from Utica and I was blown away. I mean most places out here don't even have Labatts or Molson). I paired it up with a sixer of Pennsylvania Style Lager, to honor the the Northeast, and my frown turned upside down. I'd still like to find somewhere out here where I can buy the Brooklyn Lager I smuggled off my last flight out here and am saving for a special occasion. It can be fun finding stuff that reminds you of home.

A fellow Blackhawks fan?! Just thinking about hearing the horn blast at old Chicago Stadium still gives me chills. And the organ that was built into the stadium. Oh and of course Wayne Messmer singing the National Anthem. :)

There was never anything like the blast at the old Chicago Stadium when the hawks scored a goal. The organ tubes were set in the concrete so it made the whole place vibrate!

That being said, the United Center is a LOT of fun also. :)

I had the pleasure of socializing with Bobby Hull a few years ago. Not a very tall guy, but his hands, when I shook his hand I thought he still had his gloves on ! They were HUGE! Really, really nice guy. He had a fondness fir barley sandwiches as well.;)

Dude, the name of the beer and punctuation go well with your avatar! Plus "bitter" is likely one of my top 10 or even 5 favorite words. I'd like your post more if I could.
Cheers!

Ommegang Three Philosophers coupled w some Hoegaarden and Turkey Gravy & Bisquits.

I quite like the Ommegang Rare Vos. Hoegaarden not so much, I find the coriander overdone, but different strokes for different folks! :)

preference flavor wise . dry aging a steak vs. wet aging . discuss.
