When does Starling get back?

People are hanging a lot of hopes on JJ Starling turning this team around. Outside of Youngstown St, he has not been very good either. Cornell, Colgate, and Texas effectively shut him down. He was OK against Texas Tech offensively but was repeatedly abused defensively.

Would he be better defensivery at the point vs current set-up? I dont know. He adds a dimension of someone who can drive to the basket and finish (most of the time). Concern is he will come back and not be where he was prior to getting hurt. I would like to see us win against Wake and Cheap Lenoard Hamilton at FSU.

Go CUSE

If I’m him I’m sitting out the rest of the year and taking a medical redshirt and not wasting a year of eligibility with this crew.

144% THIS.

Unless he’s delusional enough to think he can play well enough over the final 6-8 weeks to parlay that into a shot at the Association
(and not even Mookie was that delusional)
then he’s better served to get back to 100%+ and see what the following year brings.

Which may or may not be at Syracuse.

I apologize if I missed this over the last couple of weeks. When does Starling start playing again? It's a hard team to watch without him.
I was told precisely the same time that Westry does.

Has JJ played enough to burn his medical red shirt? How does that work in hoops?

Same as every other sport.

30% of scheduled games, in the first half of the season.

30% of 31 = 9.3 (rounded up to 10).

JJ has played 6 so far.

Halfway point is BC next week. If he plays against BC or later, he can't redshirt.

He's only a Junior, so he can play next season (if the new coach wants him).

I'm sure we'll have better PG's in 2026-27 anyways.

Just thinking for him also if he wants to medical red shirt and transfer someplace else with 2 to play 2.

You mean if he were to "accidentally" slam his hand in a revolving door, or something similar?
