No.

First, the program was still the second program on the Hill to football - despite the football team's problems.

Second, Danforth had been recruiting two major talents - Roosevelt Bouie and Cliff Warwell.

The primary concern was getting those guys.

When the decision was made the word was that hiring Jim Boeheim would make it more likely that Roosevelt and Cliff would attend SU.
