On the football team , I thank the good lord up above for the basketball team and Coach Boeheim. Its pretty rare to have stability and consistency in this day and age. And on top of that it gives me something to look foreward too. Were blessed!

Is this "shambles" stuff some prediction you're making for later this year? Cuz last I checked, an unranked team simply lost to the third best team in the country yesterday. We're on pace to go 6-6 and go bowling. Shambles!!

Yes yesterday we were in shambles, burnt toast, and lost in sauce. I never said it would carry on after that, and i never threw in the towel.

Keep the faith 518 !

Lol. True. My bad. Carry on

Only on pace to go 6-6 because we played OOC and LeMoyne for our two wins. I'd be shocked if we win more than 4 this year, I'm not even being rude or unrealistic.

Listen I was just having some fun with the "shambles" comment with AC. I'm scared to even ask if you hope your 4 win prediction is wrong

I hope it's wrong, I hope we win every game here on out. I was rooting for them yesterday and will every game for the rest of the year. But I'm not going to put unrealistic expectations on a bunch of 1 to 3 star recruits playing against far superior talent. It's not fair to the players.

Sounds good. Go orange

Much easier to keep a good coach in basketball. And JB has passed on his 2-3 zone knowledge to all his assitants and past players. imo, We will be sitting pretty when he leaves as well.

JB is a master recruiting strategist and excellent judge of talent. Whether it is finding diamonds in the rough or knowing who to go after, given the vast universe of relevant considerations, he is the man that pulls the strings, including knowing who to hire for staff. He will not be replaced. We will be OK with the line of succession in place, but make no mistake, JB is a genius at what he does.

Shambles...the DOME falling down...hit by a major Twister called Clemson...geez, Maryland lost by 63 points to FSU after it beat WVU by 37...both those schools must really be buried compared to 'Cuse.
A new coach, a QB in his second start, a full house, playing the #3 ranked team...and this is called SHAMBLES...really? REALLY?
Understand the BBALL love...maybe the best in the land this year...but hey, the Football Team is Orange too...and that means it isn't SHAMBLES...it is on the path to better days. Lest we forget...Orange is 'Cuse and that is far from SHAMBLES!!
(unfortunately out-of-country on business so missed Clemson and going to miss
NCState too--very poor scheduling--and speaking shambles--NCState is down so 'Cuse has opportunity to go 3-3)
It's Good to Be 'Cuse!! The Order to the 'Cuse Orange...

So, of all things, opinionated football recruiting rankings are the end-all?

Nassib - 2 star, Pugh - 2 star, Shamarko - 2 star, Mike Williams - 2 star. NFL.

Don't just start throwing out bogus statements like you did above. HS recruiting rankings is an inexact science, which are often incredibly wrong, especially with the "4 and 5 stars".

Finding players that fit your system and then coaching them up is where it's at.

But, back to basketball...
How much do you think the Dome has to do with our stability? In other words, would we be anywhere near today's success if we were playing in a sold-out Manley Field House?

The Dome has certainly helped JB build a strong and identifiable national brand at SU. But I have no doubt he would have built a top-tier program playing in a smaller arena.

Disagree. Recruiting is where it is at. Exceptions do not prove anything. How often would a team of 4 stars beat a team of 2 stars? When coaches begin to believe that they can mold championship players out of anybody, they are merely rationalizing that they are fed up with recruiting,. Their teams are headed downhill, whether it is Coach P or even John Thompson in his last years at GT, or Denny Crum in his later years. Talent generally prevails, as anyone knows who has played sports. In football speed and size are crucial and just like height in bball, they can't be coached.

So a 2 star recruit is just as likely to succeed as a 4 or a 5 star recruit? Nobody said it was the end all, I never said that. Honestly, what was the last team to compete for a national championship without great recruits? The only bogus statement made between my post and your post is that you don't think we need 4 or 5 star recruits to be relevant in college football.
