Where are all the torch bearing, fire Joe Adam people this week?

For all the things that have gone wrong this year, line play hasn't been that bad:

#6 in sacks allowed in the ACC
#8 in rushing offense

I'd argue that it should be better given the experience there, but the line has been better than last year.
The OLine hasn't got it done when they needed to this year. They've looked competent in spots, but very little consistency, especially considering they are the most experienced unit.

It's far from joyless. Look, I've made my feelings about recruiting abundantly clear on this site and I know I'm in the minority. I find the breathless attention that people pay to the whims of 18 year old boys to be weird. Again, I know most disagree. I thoroughly enjoy watching kids develop over their careers, and I certainly have been psyched to see Dungey arrive from nowhere to be a viable true frosh starter. I just learned my lesson years ago about situations where people adamantly proclaim things like "We've never been deeper at QB" and then proceed to argue their perception to the death. People tend to overrate young talent and then get furious when things don't pan out. It's not my cup of tea. I get plenty of "joy" from many other aspects of sports. Recruiting hype is not one of them.

I respect that.

I just disagree.

Yep. That's fine. But the state are the stats.

We are the 2nd slowest offense in CFB. We run the 2nd fewest plays per game. Our sacks given up are less because we don't face as many pass rushes. We are 6 plays slower per game from last year and that offense was slow.

Our OL is underachieving and the coach tasked with it is awful. If SS wanted to hire Joe Adam he should have made him the TE coach or just assistant football coach. He could be a decent recruiter who knows but tasking him with the OL has been Grade 1 Epic Fail.

Just because we had a good game against Clemson doesn't validate the fact our OL play the last 2 years has been sub-par and the players on the roster being inexperienced or not talented enough are not valid excuses.

This thread does not help make the case Joe Adam should be the Syracuse OL coach in the future. Our OL has been poor considering the players we have.

again you cant use plays to decide pace of play.

You obviously didn't get my point I was making. I am not going to bother if you can't realize that I listed total plays per game because Cusian tried saying our sacks allowed numbers were good.
We haven't allowed as many sacks because we are running less offensive plays each week.

Our OL play has been sub-par that is on the OL coach who had zero experience in CFB coaching OL.

Adam should be gone from OL coach faster than the Secondary coach should be replaced.

i get we have better sack numbers because we run less plays. but saying we are slowest offense because of the number of plays means nothing. i think the oline has done an goodjob in pass protection because teams still honor the run because of the design and play calling of the offense.. when we play teams in real pass situations it has not done as good a job but its been ok.. the real issue is lack of run offense in running downs, we need to fix that before you can worry about anything else the oline is doing

I would be very surprised/disappointed if Joe is coaching the OL next year.

Me too but, the OL did a better job than the DL this year.

Our passing game has been poor. The running games has had spurts.

Our OL coach is not good at getitng the most out of the talent on this line. We have talented experience this year next year are younger. I really hope Adam is moved to another position if SS is retained because we don't want to spend market value. Adam can coach TEs and remain on staff.

i do wonder what would happen if the oline played better more consistently. but as to whether its coaching or talent i cant tell. all i can see is our SR trudo getting blown backwards play after play at key times and wonder did Adams make him worse ?

If an Oline individual is consistently getting "blown backwards play after play at key times" maybe he needs to be replaced by the person the coaching staff has identified and developed as next on the depth chart?

Yeah - that's it.

Might that be because the o-line has 3 seniors and 2 juniors starting on it that have abundant college experience? And that the d-line doesn't have nearly the same experience?

And I'd argue it's not a landslide victory for the o-line compared to the d-line this year. Both have been subpar.

Yes I would make the same argument, experience vs youth. But youth can't be used as a factor according to many.

Don't bother. Upperdecker thinks the time of possession divided by plays doesn't tell you anything. We play slow on purpose and our defense still gives up more ypg than everyone. Plan has failed
