Without a miracle run down the stretch, the writing appears to be on the wall. A meaningless March once again for the Cuse.

Any speculation on where Red and staff heads next? Most of them have been on the hill for a very LONG time.

Of course, many thanks for their years of service. I'm sure they wanted it to work.

Autry probably takes a year off. Then lands as an assistant coach someplace. Or maybe high school. Maybe his buddy Seth Greenberg will get him a job with someone.

I'd guess Red lands as an assistant for a power conference school - he is a proven recruiter. Griff probably ends up as an assistant at a lower-tier power-conference school or a mid-major. Kline probably stays on as the GM. No idea about the other coaches.

Whomever the new coach is, I hope he has room for some of the behind-the-scenes staff. Most of those people have lives and families in Syracuse (and don't make big dollars like the coaches do) - I'm not sure they would be able to find similar jobs in CNY.

This is quite rich. We have a thread about where a coach who has not even been fired yet will land next. In early February. This is true shark jump level stuff. I salute you.

One vote for "miracle run down the stretch." Impressive optimism, sir.

Maybe the great will wade — who many in the local media claim would never be hired by the university due to character issues — will do the honorable and compassionate thing and give red an assistant job to rehab his career

Does wade have a connection to Red other than Copeland?

You’d be suprised. He’ll likely end up at SU with a 20 win season, a lousy season and a .500 season. Not awful on paper. Plus JB and JW have lots of contacts. So not a HC job but a decent one.

Red will never get another head coaching job at any level. I have no idea why anyone would hire Griff or Engelstad. Straughn should land somewhere if he's the recruiter that he's been touted to be.
Some1 will take him as an asst because of recruiting ties

I mean he’s already fouled out walking to the end of the bench at this point so…

I’d have to think the entire staff is going to have a difficult time finding work unless some guys move on from Gmac and he throws them a bone.

Honestly with what GMac is doing at Siena ( in no way to overvalue or seem I’m making a case he should be a candidate here), the energy and approach with what we’ve seen these past few years is unlikely to have GMac taking a flyer either.

What else is there to discuss?
