Where does Wisconson find all these white boys?

"All thoseWisconsin farm boys," as my long-time significant other (a Wisconsin farm boy himself) used to say.

I was watching a Wisconsin/Northwestern game earlier this season where every player on the court was white. You see that in the middle of the country more than you do on either coast. A matter of demographics.

Racism post. Racism post. Whaaaaa.. I kid I kid. Some dummy called me out on this board once for saying "that white boy" in a post about a random white guy from a random opponent.

They're the New England Patriots of college bball.

I am shocked at how many white players Wisconsin always has. Duke used to get crap all the time for being the "white" school, but Bo Ryan legitimately throws white washes all the time. Nigel Hayes IMO, is Wisconsin's 2nd best player.

Who is Nigel Hayes better than.. Kaminsky or Dekker?

Nigel Hayes has shot over 50% in both his freshman and sophomore years. He shoots 38% from 3 pt range and average 1 more rebound and assist per game while only averaging 1.5 less ppg than Dekker.

Dekker's numbers 13.9 ppg, 5.5 rpg, 1.2 apg. 52.6% from 2pt range, 33.8% from 3pt range, 72% FT shooter.
Hayes' numbers 12.4ppg, 6.4 rpg, 2.1 apg, 5o.2% from 2 pt range, 38% from 3 pt range, 75% FT shooter.

I think its debatable Hayes v. Dekker. I take Hayes.

So, as America heads toward a demographic of 50% "white," 25% hispanic, 15% black and 10% asian, should we expect bastketball rosters to reflect that?

I'm pretty sure neither Dekker nor Hayes nor Bo Ryan nor anyone else on the team gives a you know what about the individual stats. And that's one big reason why they're so successful.

And, by the way, using the term "boy" - whether preceded by the word "black" or "white" or by ethnic or religious descriptions is considered offensive in some quarters.

Where the hell did I use the term "boy"?

What i find impressive is the scouting of these kids. It seems 90 pct of the wisky guys pan out to be as good or better than expected. Year in year out they are one of the best fundamentally sound, balanced and shooting teams in the nation. Its quite remarkable really. They should be a handful for Kentucky as they are essentially a bigger and more skilled notre dame.

I remember watching the Louisville-NC State game and seeing 10 black players on the floor. "It ain't 1957 any more."

Don't worry - it won't be long before affirmative action sets its sights on scholarship distribution. And in about 10 years we'll be forced to watch co-ed basketball... which might be mildly amusing initially.

those wisconsin farm boys got awfully tall and skinny from the offensive lineman days.

Sat nights game is like the polar opposite of UK-Texas Western.

"white boys" is indeed a racist term. it's a judgement based solely on ones skin color or ethnic origin. does it bother me ? no. but it's clearly racist.

What would you prefer to say? "Caucasian men?"

That is what they are! Males! And white!

I know it is a racist slur to call a black man a "boy," because that is an historic term of deprecation. But what is wrong with calling a young white man a "white boy?" That is... what he is.

I live in CT... where everyone refers to the UConn women's basketball team... and the "UConn girls."

Absolutely. In a country more focused on outcome than merit, that ratio shuold be the objective.
