where was lally's response to waters article

The NCAA has been a paper tiger since they caved on the UNC investigation.

So you agree that NCAA concerns has nothing to do with where AW is relative to Syracuse University right now, and your post concluding that was wrong.

Awesome, we’re on the same page now.

The issue at Syracuse has traditionally been that the University takes money other schools consider athletic revenue and reallocate it to the general fund. Concessions was a big topic years ago on this board for that reason.

has any school tried setting up an outside company, then awarding it contracts like concessions and used the profit to fund NIL?

He's working some of the folks on here to build up his image for free. Say what you will but it is impressive...
My god you are cynical. I am one of those you believe is being "worked". That doesn't give me a lot of credit. I really don't care. I have not met anyone in the Lally family, and I don't know their side of the story. But, I have talked to Adam many times and he is consistent and I believe he is being truthful. If you know something about the situation that hasn't been shared, please share.

There’s a reason why the Gallop poll shows trust in media is around 32% in the US - many don’t conduct themselves with the level of professionalism they should. It may be more accurate - or at least more plausible to the average person -to say Mike and Donna still work to a high standard of verification that many other in the media no longer do.

As I have a similar experience of a reporter literally making up a story which led to a huge PR crisis for both my company and local politicians the reporter had an axe to grind against - and that reporter is still employed by the same organization - my respect for media is very, very low. My working assumption is all reporters have political pressures which influence what they report, and therefore the accuracy of what they report. I don’t think Mike or Donna are immune from that reality.
Slightly OT... a couple years ago I attended a community meeting that the local TV station attended. I was very surprised when I watched the news that they misrepresented almost everything including whom and how many people attended. Unfortunately for the reporter my sis-in law is in HR at their station and my son had taken pictures at the meeting. They weren't fired but the station corrected their story (always humiliating) and that reporter lost several assignments over it. Only because an attendee knew someone at their station, otherwise the entire city (at least whomever watched) would have been misinformed on something that led to a vote. Point is reporters like Donna and Mike need to be cherished even if they don't always report what you want. You can at least believe them.

I'm no PR genius, but I'd suspect that the University does not want to tie its basketball brand to a convicted felon

That can't be it, because they let him pay for a luxury box and they let him buy courtside seats and bring celebrities to games and pay for security...They let him allow JB to use his private jet for recruiting purposes.

Comparing Lally and Weitsman is kinda just silly. I do hope Lally and the other major donors can work with Weitsman as he has something they do not have. Social Media influence! He can be a tool to further their impacts of their generosity. Long way to go and likely won’t ever get there though.

Yeah, for sure. Seemingly, it always works better than the alternative in cutting off one's nose to spite their own face type position, etc. It's doesn't appear that AW's ego, self-centered ways, etc. is an actual moral compass type dilemma, but rather more of a; "We Are Syracuse" kind of deal, which, carries plenty of its own irony itself.

Just some math for you all in case anyone needs a refresher on billions. Adam W has his net worth listed as 1.5 Billion in most places. Just for arguments sake let's say he put in 10 million to Cuse sports per year. We'll all pretend that's true for arguments sake even though people estimate wildly different amounts here.

So let's say someone is doing ok at 100K a year. If they gave the same % as AW that would be $667 a year for a normal person.

That's a 55$ a month subscription to NIL for him.

I want his money pouring back in and there needs to be a reconciliation but let's also look at the #'s.

I do take the point to an extent, but net worth and annual salary are not the same thing.

I am trying as hard as I can. If I was a betting man, and I am, I would bet against it ever happening. When the time is right, I will fill everyone in on what has happened so far.

Appreciate the insight.

I have no dog in this fight or information one way or another but.....I find it rather annoying there can't be some common ground. It should be on the AW and KS to fix it and do what's best for the school moving forward in a competitive manor in my opinion. Scraping the barrel for my less than noticeable donation of a few hundred dollars when there is a capable person to make an actual dent is enough to make me rethink it. If you aren't serious about being competitive, why would I give you money.

My $.02 is that KS is old school. Much like most of the board I'm guessing. They probably find the discussion of money distasteful outside their paneled board rooms and private clubs. They don't want to change and even though the entire landscape of college athletics has changed, they can tilt their nose a bit and proclaim they are focused on education and the entire student body and turn a clouded eye towards what is going on in sports and grudgingly agree they can spend a little more but they're going to do it their way, quietly, privately behind closed doors. They don't like anything being done in public and shut down anything public "for the good of the university." Completely uninformed opinion, but sometimes you end up whom you appear to others.

C'mon, we all know that there are tons of people on this board alone that, judging by their posts, have felony rap sheets.

Truthfully, I have always assumed that a few posters here are on death row. Or...and I think we are all in agreement on this...should be.

You're talking to Adam and pushing back on any differing perspective presented on this board. It's free PR for him.

I'm going to side with the people that have donated millions and millions of dollars to my alma mater to ensure our athletics are competitive.

The funniest/dumbest thing with Weitsman and his ilk (i.e. a certain South African in the news a lot these days) is how they cultivate (gaslight) this image of being the victim. Breathtaking to behold.
