Where's my Rochester Cuse fans at?

Moving back for a job. We'll be there in March. Let's crack some brewskis!
Im Back Episode 4 GIF by Friends
I’ve always wondered if I could deal with Upstate NY winters after having lived in Maryland for 17 years. I honestly don’t think I could. But good luck on your next chapter!

Permanent. I'm the Director of Cloud Operations for Kodak. We're gonna rent a place for a year or so before buying. Two places available now that are standing out are a house in Cobbs Hill and an apartment in Gates Center. Will probably eventually buy somewhere in the southeast burbs for the good schools and familiarity but not sure yet. Also the East side of town is closer to Cuse. Lol
Congrats on the gig! Very exciting.

Congrats on the new job. Rochester area 'Cuse fans are devoted but need to up their beer game. Sounds like you could help! As for location, you're smart to rent and reconnoiter for a few months. As a confessed (snooty) East-Sider, I can't help you with Gates. But Cobbs-Hill will give you a good location for overwatch (nice City area with nearby amenities). But long term, as you mentioned, East-side suburbs are the way to go. From South to North: Mendon, Pittsford; Fairport; Penfield and Webster. Shoot me a PM anytime.

I grew up in the East side burbs in towns from Fairport to Phelps. My mom grew up in Manchester. I'm way more familiar with that side of the metro. Looking for a short commute though which had us looking closer in and Cobbs Hill seems nice enough. It's much safer than where we currently live in Maryland according to crime maps. Lol

There are some nice areas in Irondequoit too. Think west closer to the river

Might be a convenient area to buy eventually. Lower priced homes and close to the office. We'll definitely consider it when the time comes

Id choose Cobbs Hill if I had my choice

Yeah trying to wrap that one up. Waiting for the realtor to send us the application.
Unless you’re looking at private schools, Upperdeck’s question is important (given the disparity between city and Brighton). RCSD claims to have a few “neighborhood schools”, but often will force you into a lottery (i.e., not let you chose the closest school to send your kids to). West Irondequoit schools are decent - and also fit your short orbit concept.

This is just a rental anyway. Gonna buy in a year or two. Our kid isn't even born yet (due in July).

My wife grew up near St.Paul and Titus. The area feeds into solid schools.
