Whether Hood was there or not is irrelevant

Hood was the secondary defender. CJ beat the primary defender. The secondary defender isn't entitled to space without making a play on the ball. Hood did not make a play on the ball.

What I just realized, at the 12 second mark, Grant is WIDE open from their switch with his hands ready 3 feet from the hoop. Ennis had already committed the pass to CJ at that point. Pure timing, but had Grant gotten there a second sooner I'll bet Ennis would have found him.
