Has Ishmael fully qualified? I kind of remember some "issue" with him. Not sure if it was academic or health. Phillips seems likely. Thanks. To start the season, we have 5 veterans in the rotation, then Cornelius as the 6th WR. Not bad -- and it makes it a challenge for any of the true frosh to get much opportunity in the first half of the season.
Injuries happen. Erv Phillips in the Estime role; and Ishmael have the best chances -- just based on write-ups.
I actually think custis will be a lock for red shirting. He dedicated most of his off seasons to basketball and philly is no football hotbed. I think he has potential to be big time down the road but walking on to the basketball team won't do him any favors.I see Ishmael and Cutis both playing.
Any chance KJ switches sides to give us a big athletic safety?

I recall one season (1998 - I looked it up) when we seemed loaded at WR - Spotwood, Mo Jackson, Cooper, KJ, Woodcock, Daniel, Lowe and Minter). Then Spot went down for the season and a couple of others had extended stays on the DL (Lowe and Woodcock? - maybe Jason remembers) and all of a sudden we're looking thin. It's not just how many WRs we have, it's which ones have the skill set to play the X, Y and Z positions. This is especially true when you want to rotate fresh bodies in, or play 5 wide.To start the season, we have 5 veterans in the rotation, then Cornelius as the 6th WR. No.I'm amazed you're not tired of your own schtick at this point -- even Colbert jumped ship.
Ishmael, Enoicy, Williams, Custis, Cooper etc.
Are you kidding me?
We're going to be LOADED by Hunt's senior year if the line holds up.
anomander said:No chance Ishamel red shirts. He will get significant reps as a true Freshman. He is the only recruit on the offensive side I see playing though. On defense I think Moskal is the sleeper to win the starting MIKE spot, and 1 other Freshman LBer doesn't RS, either Franklin, or Thomas. Dowels should also play as a true Freshman since he basically has to because of depth. Possibly one of the DT's plays as well. My guess is Jalen Harvey. The only one I am truly confident that plays immediately is Ishmael. I think he has been assured he won't redshirt.
Is he better than Williams though? Sometimes when 2 players are very good the better one will RS especially if they are OK with it. If one were to play this year I think Williams could contribute just as much. If all the returning receivers are and remain healthy I'm not sure either are big contributors.
anomander said:Maybe personal preference but imo Ishamel is the better receiver and more ready to contribute right away. Also, I thought I remember reading in an interview or something where he said he didn't want to redshirt, and was assured he wouldn't have to?

Mike Williams has a very similar situation and he played plenty as true freshman. It all depends on how good he is It's not like he has to put on a lot of weight to play WR. If you think he's TE then you're mistaken.I actually think custis will be a lock for red shirting. He dedicated most of his off seasons to basketball and philly is no football hotbed.
