And will Ishmael be a part of the rotation or red-shirted . I expect the combos of Custis and Enoicy to red-shirt for Sand C work. Thats just speculation on my part.

To start the season, we have 5 veterans in the rotation, then Cornelius as the 6th WR. Not bad -- and it makes it a challenge for any of the true frosh to get much opportunity in the first half of the season.

Injuries happen. Erv Phillips in the Estime role; and Ishmael have the best chances -- just based on write-ups.

Has Ishmael fully qualified? I kind of remember some "issue" with him. Not sure if it was academic or health. Phillips seems likely. Thanks.

I also say none as the rotation is very deep. Coaches would love to redshirt those guys as its unlikely an incoming receiver can add special teams value assuming they haven't played defense or aren't a return specialist.

Im gonna say none. Unless there's injuries. Too much experience coming back and I think that will be more significant than the potential of the incoming WR's. Its gonna be hard keeping Funderburk, Flemming, Kobena off the field and thats not the better half.

I see Ishmael and Cutis both playing.
I actually think custis will be a lock for red shirting. He dedicated most of his off seasons to basketball and philly is no football hotbed. I think he has potential to be big time down the road but walking on to the basketball team won't do him any favors.

How many years of eligibility does Brisly have left? Because I don't see anyone taking his spot for the duration of his time here.

I'm calling it now: West starts the season on one side but loses first team status to Funderburk. Broyld is the nod at the final spot. Flemming and West then earn significant minutes in rotation. If Flemming is injured, Ben Lewis is the next man up

You heard it here first.

Right now we only have 1 receiver who has shown any tendency to block, and that's Ashton. Custis, and Enoicy might see the field because for screens, and Hunts runs you need to block.

Any chance KJ switches sides to give us a big athletic safety?

Based on rankings KJ is the best WR recruit we have hauled in, in a long time (now he may not even be the best one from his class, but that remains to be seen) I seriously doubt he gets moved to safety before getting a legit shot at WR.

I expect one WR to make a Brisly size impact this year, and one other guy not to get shirted. My guesses would be KJ and Ishmael, and everyone else gets shirted and in 2 years we have more weapons than we know what to do with.

I recall one season (1998 - I looked it up) when we seemed loaded at WR - Spotwood, Mo Jackson, Cooper, KJ, Woodcock, Daniel, Lowe and Minter). Then Spot went down for the season and a couple of others had extended stays on the DL (Lowe and Woodcock? - maybe Jason remembers) and all of a sudden we're looking thin. It's not just how many WRs we have, it's which ones have the skill set to play the X, Y and Z positions. This is especially true when you want to rotate fresh bodies in, or play 5 wide.

Ishmael, Enoicy, Williams, Custis, Cooper etc.

Are you kidding me?

We're going to be LOADED by Hunt's senior year if the line holds up.

Can make the same case for the OL & TE. In Hunt's senior year, we have Parris, Trudo, Foy, Robinson in their third year of starting, several candidates for the second OT spot (beginning with Lasker), and others who come in with decent size and ratings. Find a quality center, and it should be a solid group.

No chance Ishamel red shirts. He will get significant reps as a true Freshman. He is the only recruit on the offensive side I see playing though.

On defense I think Moskal is the sleeper to win the starting MIKE spot, and 1 other Freshman LBer doesn't RS, either Franklin, or Thomas. Dowels should also play as a true Freshman since he basically has to because of depth. Possibly one of the DT's plays as well. My guess is Jalen Harvey.

The only one I am truly confident that plays immediately is Ishmael. I think he has been assured he won't redshirt.

Is he better than Williams though? Sometimes when 2 players are very good the better one will RS especially if they are OK with it. If one were to play this year I think Williams could contribute just as much. If all the returning receivers are and remain healthy I'm not sure either are big contributors.

Maybe personal preference but imo Ishamel is the better receiver and more ready to contribute right away. Also, I thought I remember reading in an interview or something where he said he didn't want to redshirt, and was assured he wouldn't have to?

You might be right on the interview. I don't recall one way or the other. My point was that the better player isn't always the one that sees the field earliest. There are other factors. Either way I like them both and think they will each be big contributors when all is said and done.

I don't see Hodge being supplanted from the Mike. Maybe next year Hodge moves back out and Moskal steps in, but, unless something unforeseen happens Hodge won't get moved this season IMO. I'm excited about all the LBer's coming in though, lot of talent...

We're starting to debate good problems around here. I'll take disagreements over having too many guys you'd like to see on the field every day of the week and twice on Sunday.

Mike Williams has a very similar situation and he played plenty as true freshman. It all depends on how good he is It's not like he has to put on a lot of weight to play WR. If you think he's TE then you're mistaken.

This team needs a deep threat. If one of the freshmen fits that bill, they will get reps. Broyld, West, Estime, Cornelius, etc are not going to be bumped out IMO.
