Which freshmanWR will impact THIS season?

I don't see Hodge being supplanted from the Mike. Maybe next year Hodge moves back out and Moskal steps in, but, unless something unforeseen happens Hodge won't get moved this season IMO. I'm excited about all the LBer's coming in though, lot of talent...

We're starting to debate good problems around here. I'll take disagreements over having too many guys you'd like to see on the field every day of the week and twice on Sunday.

I don't really disagree with you. The only player I like the most outside of Moskal is Hodge. I think Hodge wins the job, but had Moskal as the dark horse. I could see Hodge doing what Spruill did with his flexibility just playing where he is needed most, and not really missing a beat. With the talent we have at LBer we are going to have some very good players deep on the bench.

You might be right on the interview. I don't recall one way or the other. My point was that the better player isn't always the one that sees the field earliest. There are other factors. Either way I like them both and think they will each be big contributors when all is said and done.

It's going to be interesting to see how we handle the WR's. Obviously McDonald and Shafer want physically big, athletic WR's. Basically all of our incoming FR fit that bill. You can really make an argument for all of them contributing this year if we decide to throw aside class, and play the kids that best fit the skill set we now want at the position.

I agree with Rocco Estime, Ashton, West, and probably Cornelius aren't going anywhere.

This team needs a deep threat. If one of the freshmen fits that bill, they will get reps. Broyld, West, Estime, Cornelius, etc are not going to be bumped out IMO.

What's your gut on Flemming?

I'm not saying this to be sarcastic at all, but how could anybody know what to expect [if anything] from Flemming? Kid's entire career has been derailed by injuries.

He has the tools to be productive, but I don't think the staff is holding their breath too deep.

Good chance Kobena loses his spot in the rotation. Ben Lewis has already been recruited over IMO. Fleming and Funderburke might not be in the plan.

West, Broyld and Estime are givens, after that I think it's wide open.

Agree on all points, especially Kobena. He was bypassed in the rotation by the middle of last season, and I don't think we'll see too much of him this year.

I wonder if he can tackle... He'd be a great gunner! Seriously.

No chance Ishamel red shirts. He will get significant reps as a true Freshman. He is the only recruit on the offensive side I see playing though.

On defense I think Moskal is the sleeper to win the starting MIKE spot, and 1 other Freshman LBer doesn't RS, either Franklin, or Thomas. Dowels should also play as a true Freshman since he basically has to because of depth. Possibly one of the DT's plays as well. My guess is Jalen Harvey.

The only one I am truly confident that plays immediately is Ishmael. I think he has been assured he won't redshirt.
I pretty much agree with this. Ishmael will be my guess to play early too. I see him passing up kobena flemming and Lewis

From his time running out kickoffs, we certainly know he likes to run in a straight line.

Nah. He's not fluid, my impression is that he takes too long to get going, no burst/explosion off the line, and he'd get held up and disrupted too easily.

Didn't he have a knee thing that he got fixed a few months ago... Couldn't that possibly force him to redshirt. May not be in the best shape come August... Kids a gamer though. Whenever he suits up, we will love watching him play!

Interesting thought. Didn't think about that. Just figured he was a straight line sprinter. Fairly perfect for the gunner role.

He did but it was minor. Meniscus so he has probably been at 100% for a few months now. He will be fine.

Only time will tell which players and recruits ultimately take the field against Villanova. But it strikes me what a refreshing dilemma this is - having multiple skilled players as options at critical positions.
