Better than the "Aluminum Out" games we used to have.A white out makes no sense when there's going to be a sea of empty blue seats
I'd be fine with a white out if it met two criteria:lol theres always going to be a group of you guys that is so against it unless its orange. They could plan this for months, they could buy your shirt, but if it's a white out - no thanks we're the orange!!!!
We wore platinum at home before. It's not that serious
They are. I wish they were as into an Orange out. I think that would be fun on Halloween. The kids are into it.
I think that Bowie in the AD’s office coordinated thatThe team wore orange and blue. Colgate got the white jerseys! Huh?
Every team in college football does a white out once in a while. It’s not the sole domain of those freaks in central PA.I'd be fine with a white out if it met two criteria:
1) They planned it ahead of time and for a game expected to be close to a sell out.
2) More importantly, if it wasn't somebody else's well established thing, especially Penn State's.
They said on the post game show on the radio that there are only 1,000 tickets left for the Duke game in 2 weeks. Parents Weekend.
That's not true. There are teams that haven't done white outs. Regardless, it is most strongly associated with Penn St.Every team in college football does a white out once in a while. It’s not the sole domain of those freaks in central PA.
The away team wears white. I believe even Penn St. has to wear their dark jerseys during their whiteouts, but their pants are white. The team wore orange and blue. Colgate got the white jerseys! Huh?
The striped idea sounds cool, similar to the way Tennessee does their checker board.I think we should stripe the dome Orange and Blue.
This requires coordination tho and the message needs to get out.
If they started promoting it for the Pitt game and told each section what color they needed to wear it would be more likely to happen.
As an FYI most schools when they do white outs etc are not giving out shirts. The fans just do it and they don’t complain.
While I agree the last minute effort here is a bit insane, it’s also sad that our fanbase won’t embrace these things yet then complains “we don’t have any traditions.” We don’t have any traditions because our fanbase refuses to play along with marketing.
It’s really a giant circle.
Bingo. We have a weird anti establishment fan base. Or they’re just lazy.I think we should stripe the dome Orange and Blue.

I'm glad you said this JR because I've thought the same thing for years. I don't want to criticize the fans too much, because they are the ones who have still shown up through some lean years. But after living most of my life away from CNY and being able to experience other areas, these things are just harder in CNY for some reason.I think we should stripe the dome Orange and Blue.

Agreed, do one a season. Announce early and often. T-Shirts probably need to be distributed to every seat...but that is tough too. Too many XL+ fans. Skip the free t-shirts...have them available for purchase in multiple sizes for folks that arrive without one.Exactly.
Packers had a White Out last night and they announced it on August 15.
Our students can't even stay past halftime. Sure, it was Colgate but UNC will be the same.I am pretty sure we are doing this because some of the kids in Otto’s Army are obsessed with white outs.
Agree it probably comes from watching that school to the South do the same thing.
I will comply but keep hoping an Orange out is coming. I can’t think of a better game for it than UNC on Halloween night. Can we please embrace our color for that game?
The pro-like fan base is the most accurate comment. A lot of CNYers just see SU sports as a fun activity to do when the teams are good. They're not really invested. I don't know how/if you change that. I think it's part of the general culture that sports themselves just are not high on the priority list. Frankly, I'm not sure that's a terrible thing. Far too often the ridiculous things we hear about athletes getting away with in other areas are permitted because sports are far too high a priority. There can be a good balance, but it is rarely found.Agreed, do one a season. Announce early and often. T-Shirts probably need to be distributed to every seat...but that is tough too. We can't even execute a proper cheer other than Let's Go Orange. I've been trying for years for Syracuse to develop a hand sign with no luck. We have a weird pro like fan base who attends college games when it seems like a must do event.
I'm sure the student section got all free shirts. The kids are into it.
Are you kidding they left at half time. Our students can't even stay past halftime. Sure, it was Colgate but UNC will be the same.
My theory: The students left in the 4th quarter are our future Syracusefan.com lurkers and posters.
