This is true. He hasn’t announced anything yet, though I see no reason to scrub your IG if this isn’t the intent. I’m sure agents are shopping him now, and maybe Cuse is still in the mix. The optics just don’t look good.

The biggest question I have with White is in the portal era do you gamble on upside like with White or do you use that money to go get a proven player. Developing players and having them stay 4 years is rare so you have to consider Whites 1 year upside versus a more proven consistent player at the same price. I imagine if White stays it will cost a pretty penny and he will be the starting PF. So for players like White GMac has to decide if he is worth the gamble because for the money you can get a more proven consistent player maybe without Whites massive upside.

I struggle with this as well. What I really like most about Gmac was that he rode his backcourt guys he could trust for 35+ mins a game. His front court he rotated alot more.

Here's what I'm thinking 12 guys

3 Top Tier ACC Starter = PG and Center portal'ed and break the bank to get the 2 guys we want, and Doty (I'm not saying I think Doty is at this level but I think GMac will treat him this way as the Alpha)

3 High upside Projects (no guarantee for them to be starters) = White, Kiyan and maybe a 3rd guy like MMM fit that bill. I suspect we are not willing to guarantee White a starting position or match what he will get in the portal, guessing the balls in his court. Hell maybe Melo and Kiyan will pay his NIL if they really want him back

2 Frosh, see what they can do = Moesh and another Euro / foreigner

2 Value Buys in the portal or Returnees = Kingz what if waiver and Falefac

2 Deep Bench guys: Petar?, and?
