Who’s back next basketball season? Early guesses, if any?

Not sure if he’s physical enough for this level of bball. He was pretty slow out there. But also told he’s gone
The physicality is an interesting thing. I thought he was a better player for the Aussie team than Siulepa, but Siulepa obviously played a bunch for Pitt and Luke got buried on our bench. Siulepa looks like a rugby player though.

I assume that the new coach will have a say in this but since One has not been made, here are my imaginative guesses:

Autry. - Gone
Coach BS- Gone
Coach Dan - Gone
Coach Griffin - Gone
GM Kline - Gone (but I would keep him)
Kiyan Anthony - Depends on Carmelo’s involvement next year, I feel he will stay
Donnie Freeman - Gone to the highest bidder, not NBA ready yet
Sadiq White - same as Kiyan, depends on Carmelo’s involvement next year, I feel he will stay
Nate George - I say C ya
Ibrahim Soare - Bye Bye, no offense, role player
Nate Kingz - Going to the highest bidder
Tyler Betsy - Gone, good offensively but not a complete player. Better than Chris Bell was for Syracuse.
Luke Fennell - Wasted year, back to Australia
Aaron Womack - Kept his eligibility but gone
Calvin Russell - will stay around but probably full-time football
Tiefing Diawara - Potential, depends on new head coach and which of his friends stay.

William Kyle - So sorry to see you go. A bright light in a bad season.
JJ Starling - Loyal to Syracuse basketball but was not a complete player but did have some good moments over three years
Bruce Zephir - what can you say?

That said, I would like to Betsy, Anthony, White, Diawara and Womack back next year but doubtful more than two come back.

Any comments?
Do we care? I don’t get the Sadiq love. From the limited games I saw, he was no big deal. Kiyan: there is a reason he wasn’t offered at higher levels. A pedestrian player. Kingz: vey inconsistent.

Like your comments, my original post was a poised question to simulate discussion.

Regarding your post, Sadiq White plays both ends of the court hard. He has limited offensive abilities which he can improve upon. His defensive skills and energy are very strong and have proven to be an example to his teammates to strive for.

Regarding Kiyan, he has very limited defensive skills to the point that matador defense would be an improvement. He looks to score but hardly looks for his teammates on offense. The pluses are he is Carmelo’s son and there is a hope that the team can get better just through his presence (Carmelo’s).

With respect to Kingz, he has shown both offensive and defensive skills during his stay at Syracuse and has express a willingness to return. The main problem this year is that his role on the team was poorly defined. Depending on the people on the floor, he was no better than the 3rd or 4th scoring option on offense. It did not seem that the guards did not look for him as a primary option.

You may think White’s “energy” is inspirational, but the play of his teammates disproved that theory.

clean house...we arent winning with these guys bring in all new players and build this thing the right way

Even as a freshman getting multiple technicals for celebrating and jawing when your team finishes with a losing record is not great.

I'm fine with that.

Would bring back White and Kingz if they were receptive, and allow everybody else to kick rocks on their way out the door.

Well, if it is your point that you do not expect any one back, that is fine. This is just a discussion and no one wins or loses in the discussion.

Regarding White, my opinion of his value is my opinion. He may not be back but he seems close to both Kiyan and Carmelo so he may be influenced by their joint decision.

I would Ike to see him come back next year but there is a maturity issue he needs to address.

Bring in Hodg and let him use his processes and GM to bring in whomever he wants...

Iif he cherrypicks a player or two from this season's squad to keep, so be it. I like Kingz back, personally.

If not, just as well.

He'll bring in what we need if the NIL and rev share is there.

I'm sold. SS Hodg full speed ahead.

One thing I know for sure is we have a losing culture and locker room right now. You just cannot bring multiple players back and for sure not build around them.

The new coach can bring back a piece or two tops but the keys to the locker room cannot be the guys from last year. They need to be bench pieces and play their roles. Personally I can see Kingz doing that but not Kiyan and White so much.

He had 2 techs this year. The last one occurred in mid-January. I’d say he got the message and addressed the maturity issue. It’s actually nice seeing at least one kid on this team give a shyte about playing well and winning.
