With the way things are going since Steve went down it seems that we have no leadership coming from within the team. I'm having a hard time even coming up with who are real leaders are. Usually they're your QB, best players, or even glue guys. Last year Kyle was the clear leader, but you had guys like LeQuint, and Meeks on offense, with Marlowe, and Justin on defense. This years team I can't place a leader on offense? Defensively, it seems like Tank and maybe Duce try. Maybe it's because we have a young team, especially on defense, but they're really missing the leadership Fran has mentioned. Is that why he stressed how Steve had control of the huddle so much? Typically you would want your QB, or upperclassmen to take on that role. Hopefully we can have some kids naturally grow into this important role, or find it from the portal. Are backs are against the wall, and there seem to be some cracks showing off the field. Going to be real interesting to see if Fran can keep the team together, and finish strong. I would categorize finishing strong as winning 2 more games, and being competitive in the others.

Defensively it’s Tank, Grant and Deuce for sure.

Offensively it’s Willis and Villari. Steve is still present too.

But the leadership this year is a far cry from last year. Last year we had an absurd amount. Team was very dialed in because of the leadership. Kyle was the best leader we’ve had since Dungey. Those two are probably up there with some of the best leaders in program history. Honestly. In terms of commanding the locker room, how players looked up to them and then backing it up with great play on the field

Leadership on football teams start with the QB IMO. Steve seemed like a fierce competitor, Rickie can't lead right now because he doesn't have the trust of the team. We're kinda leaderless.

Good question. Byron Washington was named as a leader by Fran. You would think Nixon would or should be in a leadership role by now but that may not be in his makeup. No idea on the defensive side. Probably ADL but man that’s a slender reed to lean on with freshman leadership. Maybe emotional/attitudinal leadership but no experience to temper or lend weight to that. It was a bad sign when we switched our ACC preseason kickoff reps ….

Tank Duece Devin Dan Gill Steve Nixon . Losing Steve was huge. Massive blow as he was clearly starting to own this team. Ricky is liked but he isn't a natural leader. Dan and Devin are in my opinion the two strongest leaders we have.
