I realize we made the top 20 in defense last year but we saw how fleeting that was. People who are so quick to point out how disadvantaged we are compared to factories still want to approach the game like we're one of them. defense wins championships, run and stop the run, take the points, field position, manage the game, etc.

There's a reason I'm not indifferent between defense and offense. sustained success on offense is actually possible for us.

I haven't been following what is going on with South Carolina, but how can Spurrier be in charge of a team that is #3 in defense, but not in the top 20 in offense? Is he having trouble with getting the right QB?

6 of the top 20 defenses are from the SEC - makes it very tough to crack the top 20 on offense

Who you play is probably more important to cracking the top 20 on D than talent for teams playing in crap conferences combined with terrible out of conference scheduling. SU should have no trouble putting lipstick on its pig playing the schedule it does.

That, and their best player (RB Lattimore) was hurt for 3/4 of the season. Their young QB Shaw is coming along though, they could be a sleeper next year.
