Crusty said:Agreed, but O'Korn is not a dual threat so I have to wonder. At Elmhurst Lester ran on a large majority of plays becasue he had that great back. I don't know how you can say that about AJ. I thought he was a terrible pocket passer. He was a turnover machine. He was better at play action. Wilson has the far better arm than AJ. In the limited time we had to compare the two arm strength was clearly on different levels. If Lester has a system he prefers it seems to me that he needs to stick to it and either play a dual threat or a pro style and not waste time. We have enough trouble running one type. Don't get me wrong, I am certainly at the point that I am for anything that seems to work. I realize that he is stuck with Wilson who he would not have recruited, which is why I don't see how O'Korn would fit in.
What I find most amazing is how many people hated Hunt when he was healthy…and was calling for the back ups to start. After he got hurt, all the back ups got a chance to start….then all of the Geniuses and arm chair head coaches, ex pro coaches, etc. …etc. on this site understood why he was the starter. It is just hysterical now looking back. Maybe the coaches know more than we do. Just a thought!Hunt starts and Long is the backup.
Next question.
There is more to passing than a strong arm. Wilson had the strongest arm on the team…no debate there….but he had no touch, poor accuracy and no sense of timing or delivering passes where only the receiver could get it..like back shoulder. AJ, did show a better sense for placing passes and back shoulder positioning and accuracy. I was not very impressed with Wilson…while I think AJ shows much more potential. He needs to get bigger and stronger and really should have had a true redshirt freshman year.I don't think you can assume anything based on formation. Lester was running with the QB out of 12 personnel at Elmhurst when he had a running QB.
I also think AJ was as good a pocket passer as Wilson showed.

AJ was a turnover machine. He constantly threw it up for grabs. You can get away with that in HS but not in D1. His arm is pretty weak and he was exposed in the wind at Wake as well as when going to his left. I like his spunk, but so far, he is a couple of years away from playing at a P5 level, which leaves us with Hunt. There is more to passing than a strong arm. AJ, as a true freshman, should have never been out there. He has to mature physically, but he has moxy, shows great leadership, was more accurate than Hunt, and has the potential to become a decent QB.AJ was a turnover machine. I certainly agree that he was forced into action far too soon. Whether or not he will ever become a good P5 QB is an open question. I hope he can as there is a lot to like about AJ.AJ, as a true freshman, should have never been out there.
