Syracuse's Joe Adam or U Albany's Jim Sweeney. I would tend to say Sweeney who after 16 years as an all pro center 11 years with the Jets might know a little more about the OL than Adam. We had Pat Perles. He left line play went south. I know injuries played a part. I worry that Adam is not the answer. I will leave it to the board to hash it out.

So you're saying that a month and a half from training camp Shafer should fire Adam and hire Sweeney?

I don't know whether Sweeney is a good coach or not but I never buy into the idea that former players will make good/great coaches. Playing their position at the highest level is a very different skill than teaching that same position.

It sounds like he butted heads with McDonald quite a bit,but so did everybody on the offensive staff. I think it remains to be seen how good a coach he will be. One thing I will say is that I see his name come up a lot with recruits in a very positive light so I am confused as to why you would post this thought at this time. Give the guy a chance

Gotta give joe more of a shot. If line dissappoints this year, then reconsider

Yep. Not sure we know yet. Last year was not good - but you could say that about the entire offensive staff.

Plus he's been surprising a bit on the recruiting trail.

On paper Adams is the worst line coach hire we might have ever made

we are talking about coaching ability, not playing...so on PAPER...its Adam in a landslide.

and since they moved that kid clark to the OL, we will really see what he can do.

Huh? Clark is a DT.

Who's a better drummer; Ringo Starr or Neil Peart?

just passing along whispers...

i still think Adam is the better OL coach and obviously recruiter at this point.

Interesting. I would be shocked - since we are do thin on the DL and he's in line for playing time.

We'll see.

I think Clark would make an excellent center. He's a bigger and stronger version of Macky.

I have nothing to do with Ringo Starr! please see name and photo.

Yep. No one gets fired/replaced at this stage unless they've done something horrible like armed robbery or rape. Wait a minute...is Adam Mexican? If so, let's hope Shafer's got Sweeney's number.

When did "they" move him to OL?

I thought I read about the Clark move to OL in the golf thread, but I could be wrong. Lots of whispers and nuggets flying around here lately. (Settle down Millhouse).

Why doesn't someone just ask his dad. He's on the board. Personally I hope he stays at DT as I see him getting playing time there this year due to the lack of depth.

I'd be stunned if they moved Clark to OL this year with the DL depth issues. Maybe a year or two down the line if they feel he has more potential there and the DL depth is built back up, but not this year. I would really question that move if they did it this year.

Why would we move Clark to OL when we have no DL depth and probably need him to play there as a freshman?

mitch browning
Mitch was pretty good with what he had to work with. My reference for OL coach is and always will be Rocco Pirro......the man was very good the definition of excellence!
