who is your favorite player?

asked on the hoops side, so I'll ask for the gridiron too...

who is your favorite current player?

who is your favorite all-time?

mine: Dungey and Little Joe Morris (why I'm a Giants fan) followed by Donovan, Tyree, Spotwood, Burnett and Pat O'Rourke
Dungey
Ernie Davis

dungey appears to be the flavor of the day.---the guy is all guts---that is for sure!!! has he had his moment in the sun? not yet--lets see what happens! and i hope he has the guys to help him---he has the DESIRE to be a leader and a play maker!!! actually, desire wise he reminds me of philcox--player wise,he remindes of nunes--who i believe would be a great coach.

I had a few old time guys that i grew up watching. Zonk and Tommy Myers for sure. Today i really like Strickland on O and Cordy on D

Dungey - but he's one hit away from his career being over...if not worse.
Cordy - but is he too short for Babers?
Franklin - but is he still a good fit in the Tampa 2?
Phillips - but what's his role in the offense?

So I guess I would say Fredericks. I was really impressed by him last year and think he has all-American talent if we can support him and give him the ball enough.

As for past - Marvin Graves is why I am a Syracuse Football fan. I grew up on SU basketball but Graves made SU Football interesting for me.

No one knows how far away Dungey is from being disqualified - it's all guess work.

This is a very hard question to answer.

I loved watching Tommy Myers play - he was a great football player who probably does not receive the acclaim from Syracuse fans that he deserves.

I also loved watching Cliff Ensley - a guy who at SS could hit, INT and return punts for TDs. He was a great athlete who played on some great defenses.

Joe Ehrmann was as good a DT as I have ever seen on the Hill. While Ben's offenses slowed down a lot in 1970 and 1971, the defenses for those years - with Ehrmann leading the way - were stifling.

And, I have to mention Rich Panczyszyn, the No. 44 QB whose photo I use when posting on this board.

He was given the number for a reason - he was a truly great athlete - a real triple threat who could run, throw and punt. He was hindered by injuries - he had the starting job in 1967 but was hurt in the first game against Baylor - but was still a player who made a very strong impression on me as a kid.

And finally, I have to say that Freeney, McNabb, Reyes, Rhodes, Conley, Ferri and Troy Nunes will always be my heroes.

Current: Strickland. Past: Davis. Given one of my kids is named Davis, I'd kind of be a jerk not to say he was my favorite player.

Michael Owens gets an honorable mention note for providing the best moment in Cuse football history with his 2 point conversion against WVU. Daryl Johnson also gets some props for just abusing tacklers.

Nobody has made me feel as good about Syracuse Football in the last fifteen years than Eric Dungey has.

Lets hope that he is healthy and suited to play for Coach Babers.

I have to believe that he fits the system quite well.

Offense: Eric Dungey
This kid is so underrated and his athleticism is through the roof. People on Twitter (who actively use it, outside of just recruiting) can attest to the fact that Dungey's gif/vine/meme (after he jumped that Virginia player) was EVERYWHERE, 10's of thousands of retweets (presumably from a lot of people who have never watched a single second of SU football) were losing their minds over it. I don't remember SU ever getting that kind of national exposure (from my generation) and it was the first time (in my 10 years of watching cuse football) where I felt pride for my team on a national level (like I could openly brag to anyone without getting crap for it... Not that that has ever stopped me before... But you get what I'm saying)... I reflect on last season a lot and it pains me because I feel with better coaching, we would have been bowling... Anyways, I digress...

Defense:Chauncey Scissum
This is a really bias pick because I'm friends with and played ball (in buffalo) with a couple of his close friends... But I love his hussle and his work ethic. If I recall, he was committed to OD comming out of highschool and had to work hard to get that SU ship. With his hard work and athleticism, I'm optimistic he will get a lot more pt before his time is up.

Runner up: Slayton
If it wasn't for my bias, I'd go with Slayton. Athleticism of a DE, size of a DT. Love it.

Favorite player from my era (last 10 years of watching and comprehending SU football):

Offense: Tim Lane
Solid player in a time when we didn't really have any solid players... Lol honestly I couldn't really explain why I like his soo much, I guess it's just based on the fact that he was around when I first started to really get into Cuse football and he's always just stuck out for some reason lol.

Defense: Shamarko Thomas
Little man, who can hit like a truck. Plus, he's a really good dude, which says a lot considering what he's been through on a personal level. Sometimes when I go to work out and I have no motivation, I think back to when I used to sit there and watch Shamarko push cars up hills... That always seems to get me motivated lol.

Favorite Player of all time: Jim Brown
It's nice to say one of the best to ever play went to Syracuse... Happy birthday Jim!
