I'd say so. Maybe there was nothing thorough, because Davis was giving them nothing to investigate further or any evidence...

Just dumb all the way around. Was ESPN "rigorous or thorough?" They HAD the tape, and knew they couldn't use it. Still, you would think he would have given it to SU and SPD. To not do so suggests he knew it wouldn't was more valuable in terms of its sensationalistic impact.

I've now listened to Schwartz being interviewed several times (by other ESPN'ers, I'll add, throwing mostly softballs...), and with almost every answer, he tries to preface his answer with his own "coloration" or slant as to why Davis said or did what he did. I find myself in front of the TV or at my car radiop saying, out loud, "just give us the factual answer, dammit!" Now I guess he'll start to "color" answers to why he ---the reporter--- said or did what he did. Very frustrating...

no that's pure speculation on my part but why wouldn't he give it up otherwise? it seems like he's boxed now and authorized ESPN to use the tape. I refuse to believe they didn't have the technology back in 03 to release it.
