Why can't football coaches be ejected?

In yesterday's Nebraska/Iowa game, Bo Pelini angrily swung his hat at a ref and almost hit him in the face. In a basketball or baseball game, that coach would unquestionably be ejected, but it was only a 15 yard unsportsmanlike conduct penalty.

Seems strange to me.

Always wondered this.

Most of these guy behave like some cross between feral animals and criminals, yet it's just part of the game.
