the announcers said it was Brandon Berry. Was it really? If so, why? Did Dino lose a bet or something? Has to be the first time a DE has ever returned a punt in a FBS game.

It was actually Ishmael. He changed jerseys because we have (had?) another #8 (Cordy) on special teams.

Wondered about that myself. He got plastered and didn't come in again. Then again, he looked pretty comfortable fielding that ball ...

Just a tear away jersey .. first time I've seen it but it makes sense when you can have two guys wear the same number

Dino said Cordy was up on the line trying to block a kick. And because you can't have two number 8's in game at same time, they had to throw 97 on ish.

Quinn Ojinnaka used to slip on a #99 jersey to line up as an extra tight end for PATs I think.

Speaking of rule changes, let's just go back to everyone having their own number. For my sanity. We'll call that step 1.

Then step 2 will be numbers I can read. But we have to crawl before we walk.

It bothers you that much?

We have 105 players on the team. Should we use letters when we run out of numbers?

Also, doubling up on numbers allows us more leeway to give numbers to recruits who want a particular number. If it helps recruiting, I'm in favor.

If the plan is to get all 20 walk-ons onto the field, then yes. Probably going to get a few more little engine that could stories that year.

I'm not all that passionate about it. Let's all have another cup of coffee.

I'm happy our staff knew the rule and was ready for it. Previous staffs would not have been.

Lol, i heard on the college channel that Michigan has 4 number 3s on the roster. Good ol harbaugh.

I just checked Michigan's roster and they have:

Three 1s
Four 3s
Four 6s
Three 15s
Three 17s
Three 20s
Three 44s
Three 46s

You could get ten more two digit numbers of you used zero and then put a zero in front of 1-9.

no real reason you cant go to 999 in this day and age.. im sure there is a font for that. some old silly rule still in place. kind of like 2 digit years worked great until 2000

Who gets to be 666?

Does it matter if they can't be read? For all we know we have emojis on the jerseys.

Joking...

Better question why is Ish returning kicks, just my opinion but we might need him to play WR and not get hurt returning kicks.

They where trying to block the kick and needed someone with sure hands to field it.

and they yelled at him pretty good for actually trying to run it back and not taking a fair catch
