There was additional Jameis this week with more on the autographs and the student hearings...
Did that change your opinion of him or FSU?

Q1: Although the last called back TD was clearly a penalty IMO, some (particularly Irish fans) dispute that and think ND deserved to win. If those people had votes, FSU would drop down a notch compared to the other teams that have only won impressively.
Q2: Some voters may have had Notre Dame ranked above Florida State last week and dropped them below them this week. If they were outliers that had ND higher than others before, it could affect their cumulative total. Or they may have been unimpressed with FSU after watching the game (see above) but reluctant to keep ND above them since it was decided on the field, so both teams dropped down.
The best wins the SEC West has out of conference is K State with WVU being a close second. As such, it is impossible to know how good the SEC West really is. Everyone thought Texas A&M was great when they throttled South Carolina. WVU played Alabama tough as did K State with Auburn. FSU's win over Notre Dame is better than anything the SEC West has. And FSU actually challenges itself out of conference by playing Ok State, ND and Florida unlike the Mississippi State and its joke of a schedule (and Ole Miss with it's slightly less funny ooc schedule because at least the have Boise on it).
It's adorable that you're bringing up past years - but many of the SEC's big bowl games are against the B1G (Outback, Capital One and Gator) . Hard to take their wins too seriously when the B1G is the worst P5 conference.
I think FSU is being penalized because they are expected to absolutely dominate like they did last year. Obviously they aren't as good as last year, but last year they were arguably all-time great. They shouldn't be penalized for not living up to their own expectations. It's a lot harder to come back the next year and defend the title, but they have still risen up in big games and grabbed some solid wins. I really like this Mississippi St team, but after looking who they beat they are becoming less impressive. UAB was able to keep it close to highlight a terrible OOC schedule. Then they beat one of the worst LSU teams in the past 10 years which has no quarterback. The Texas A&M win is basically worth nothing now, and it took a number of Auburn turnovers to beat them at home. If any SEC team should be getting the love it's Ole Miss, but i'd still have FSU as the clear #1.
It's even more adorable that you are discounting a far superior bowl record and seven consecutive National Championships in a row (nearly an eighth last year). If your point is that some SEC teams don't play the toughest OOC skeds, great I'll grant that. If your next step is then to say that means those teams aren't legit then you're nuts. Pretty amazing how some SEC teams play soft OOC skeds and then come out and kick the sheet out of other power conference teams come January. In basketball Temple would often play the toughest OOC in the country. Good for them. That and $2.50 will get them a ride on the subway.
FSU wins out and they are in the playoffs. Notre Dame , the most storied team in college football history , who only lost on the road to the undefeated reigning NC in a game where they winning TD was taken off the board in the final seconds of the game, will be excluded from the inaugural Final Four of major college football ? A travesty. You make some good points- my one quibble is that last year FSU was "arguably all time great". Let's remember that FSU trailed nearly the entire game against Auburn in a game that obviously could have gone either way. I'd argue that the Alabama national championship team of the previous year was more along the line of all-time great.
You sound like the Ole Miss fan who screamed "SEC SEC SEC" in my face for some unknown reason in the sports book at Mandalay Bay the weekend we played at USC in 2011.
And they don't have 7 in a row. FSU, the team you seem to trash endlessly, put a stop to that.

I can see there are some SEC haters on this board. Understandable to a degree cuz those folks (SEC) can be obnoxious about their conference pride. That said, trying to de-legitimize them or question their superiority over the last decade is akin to making the argument that Google doesn't dominate the search engine segment. Beyond foolish.

It's not a travesty. I'd be so happy if that happened.FSU wins out and they are in the playoffs. Maybe. But the thing that makes me laugh is the FSU doesn't have SEC talent argument. Meanwhile, they've been fighting over the same kids for 5-10 years.

You know how they could prevent that? Join a friggin conference. Win out your remaining games and win that conference's championship. If they were in the other ACC division they could have a rematch with FSU.
I dont think they would but we're not in that situation so I dont feel bad at all for ND getting left out, if it happens, and I hope it does.Just curious if you thought SU would join a conference if NBC was paying it $15 mil a year for ten years to have several of its games broadcast on NBC. I grew up in Syracuse and went to grad school at SU. I always found them rather focused when it came to financial matters. Methinks they wouldn't be all that concerned about conference affiliation if they had that deal.
Along with conference affiliation would be a Championship Game. Obviously, it wouldnt matter if they were in our division but put them on the other side and one could make the case that the winner of that game goes to the playoff.I understand. I was just explaining why they would have no interest in joining a conference. I also think conference affiliation would do nothing for them in terms of qualifying for the playoff. If they are in the ballpark in terms of being considered for one of the four spots then they have no worries. Follow the $$$$.
