Why didnt we go to a 4.3

Cisco once let up thinking Guthrie was making the tackle and he didn’t. Cisco then whiffed. No biggie. Freshman mistake. Need to gang tackle and finish plays.

Part of the issue with our 4-2-5 is that fact one of our LBs is really a converted safety that excels with coverage (and I assume, assignments) but is weaker for run support. If you already have an extra DB on the field, why would you need to best cover (and worst run support) LB there at the same time? In reality with Whitner out there, it is a 4-1-6 dime package.

I would much rather see Shy or Armstrong out there with Guthrie when there are only going to be 2 LBs.

I could say a lot... I would like to say a lot... I won’t

No disrespect but the 2nd teamers aren’t the answer. They made A LOT of mistakes in the UCONN game when they were in. Showed me exactly why they are 2nd team.

Ok well that I will reply to. You think shy made mistakes in that game? He graded out at a 95. That was the highest of the linebackers and while yes it was a limited sample size I can assure you shy did what the coaches play call required him to do. A lot of people like to think they know what players are supposed to do but the fact is most of the time linebackers are there to be in a certain spot. It’s about filling gaps and plugging holes. Plays you think they messed up they did right and it’s on other players who didn’t do their job or it was the wrong play call. What you saw in that game may have been on a lineman who did something they weren’t supppsed to.

I really like this team, but our LBs and WRs were a concern coming into the season and still are.

The LB issue was really exposed yesterday. I don't expect them to perform on the same level as Clemson, but there were some key moments that they just didn't come up where we needed them to.

I don't know if the answer is the 2nd string getting some run, and I wasn't tracking the substitutions, but it sure seemed like we were gassed on D when Dabo decided to go all in on the run.

Tough to complain when we barely lost on the road to Clemson on the road, but this was pretty apparent.
