Why do we even play UConn?

should we have played Oregon today? St Bonaventure this year? Northeastern & Buffalo this year? We are going to be their biggest game of the year.

Look, UCONN has a strong infrastructure in place and a hot young coach with strong ties to the northeast (where many of our recruits come from). Not saying they will win 2 in 3 years but they will be recruiting many of the same players as we do and they will be improving as Hurley builds a program. Why should we be afraid of playing them? Neutral court in a large recruiting area should be a good thing. We could run in to them in other early season tournaments,

So respond to the post without actually responding to the post. Well done.

Eh, we should beat them...with Frank we likely beat them. It's rather unfortunate he's out. :(
Ah, no they don't. Frank does not solve the horrible shooting by SU nor stop the over 50% from three for UConn. They were taking shots 2 ft and further from beyond the NBA line.

We should play UConn to prove that we can beat them. We shouldn't want to walk away now.
Walk away now and SU is afraid to play them. How dies that play on campus and with recruits?

After a game like last night, the only question should be “what do we need to do differently in order to beat our rival?”

Very little. We cannot worry too much about UConn because we have too many fish to fry. On the other hand, it is the only opponent or two worthy enough for UConn to play. They circle us in their calendar. Their players are giving 150% but ours could do 110% at best. And the bus delayed on the street. It took 70 minutes from hotel 1.5 miles away from MSG probably foul the players' mood and they ended up only giving 90%.

Or play somebody from OOC who is not that familiar with our zone.
Play a Big 12 or Big 10 team. They can never figure out our defense, any of them.

Hopefully we draw the “not familiar with our zone” bracket in March.
