Why does everyone think Wake Forest will be easy?

True but there is turnover every year. Next year we lose Bromley, Spruill, Lyn, Wilkes on D. Mac, Smith, Gulley, likely Hickey on O.

Still a lot of season left, we'll see how it goes.

Yep, a lot left to play with 4 games that should be peer group type games.

We finish 3-9, the over his head people have an argument, although I still don't think you can do too much about it just yet. DC has to be higher up on the chopping block than OC. OC lost more impact players, he was brought in to be the recruiter, and his current list of verbals would show that the offense has, at a minimum, peer group comparable talent on the way.

If we finish 6-6, to me, mission accomplished for the first year, and I think we're fine.

Anything in between is up for what is sure to be endless debate.

2 weeks to prepare.

at home.

McNabb day.

parents weekend.

he was brought back to win this game.

get.

it.

done.

Oh Lord

Those players don't equal the players that we lost last year, for Christ sake it was the only decent offense we have had in 15 years!!

This is as must-win a game can be at this point, given the factors indicated by **gasp** Kaiser.

We have enough talent to compete with this team. At home, two weeks off, Wake coming off a big game they were amped up for...

At the very least, we should have a chance to win going into the 4th quarter.

Spot on. If this is another game that is over mid way through the 1st quarter I think even the most level headed people will admit to being concerned. With that said I can't see that happening at all.

The expectation wasn't to repeat the success from last season. It was to not drive it off a cliff.

Not saying it's a ball of burning wreckage already but we'll see how the rest of the season goes.

They use a lot of misdirection, bubble screens etc. If the D does not play with more discipline and handle their asisgnments significantly better then they did against GT, this one is going to be ugly.

WF's run D also looked pretty good against Clemson. The linebacker #11 is a player. I am concerned.

If we haven't developed some type of passing game over the bye week then I don't see us winning this game. Its clear that unless were playing Wagner or NCState's 5th string QB this defense is going to give up points and potentially a lot of them. That might be OK if we had Mcnabb or even Nassib back there but we don't, we pretty much have zero passing game at this point.

Honestly this team could easily not win another game this year, the offense and defense are that bad.

I could very easily agree with the statement, but dam,we have talent on defense, but not on the staff from what has happened so far

4 games to find 3 Wins.

just cannot afford to let this 1 slip by.

HUGE HUGE HUGE GAME.

throw the Fn kitchen sink at em. do whatever it takes.

fumblerooskie.

statue of liberty (actually shouldnt be too hard to pull off no matter who the QB is :bang::bang:)

early 90s coach P special teams trickery.

anything.

this is the mothafluckin game we need.

it sets up pitt and bc.

get it the done.

Oh Lord

Theres definitely talent but its spread out on the D and some of it I am afraid it overrated. The secondary has been a disaster even before Lynn went down, honestly we haven't stopped anyone in the air this year save for Wagner who I think woudl have struggled to score against 11 guys pulled from the stands. There pretty much zero pressure if we dont blitz as our D ends are either to young or inexperienced (thompson, Welsh) or just not that good at pass rushing (Robinson). Our Lb's have been good but Lynch has been absolutely abused in pass coverage and Davis and Spruill seem to have big games and then take step back though they both by far have been the most consistent and best players on our D along wth Bromley.

The problem I have moving forward is outside of the Maryland game (there a mess due to injuries) I dont see one game remaining where this D can really clamp down on a team. Campanaro is going to have a field day Saturday, BC has been putting up points on Clemson and FSU, Pitt is a mess but does have Street and FSU might score 70 on us (seriously that game is going to be brutal).

Combine our bad defense with an offense that is somehow worse and your in a heap of trouble. People should really look at the offensive stats from the last three games, we have the worst passing offense that I can ever remember a Syracuse team having and we have had some bad offenses over the years. When Syracuse has a third and 8 it might as well be 3rd and 40 because our passing game is that inept. Troy Nunes and Jeff Lowe would look like Joe Montana and Jerry Rice on this team.

How BC scored 34 on FSU is one of the mysteries of the season. they had 14 against clemson and 10 vs UNC and 7 against USC and under 250 yds of offense vs all 3. .. then against FSU get 34 and 400 yds..

even wake they only had 300 yds and 24 pts but 3 Wake To's created that. they allow about 500 yds a game on D the last 5 games.

The talent level is better than disaster status. The position where we were weakest – defensive end – has stepped up and played fine. The defense was respectable last season and mostly returned everybody – especially the secondary. As good as Shamarko was, he was better against the run not the pass.

imo, the problem is a lack of talent at the Defensive Coordinator position. He’s the disaster.

I won't even go that far. 3 bad games. 2 vs elite offense and one odd option team. I don't think he's trending up - but the next couple of games should be telling.

D End may have played well from a run standpoint but outside of Welsh against Penn State our pass rush from the end position has been pretty much non existant. Our blitzing this year has been pretty bad as well, we have telegraphed our blitzes terribly and seem to come from the same areas every time.

The thing is we haven't had an outstanding pass rush defensive end in forever and it didnt stop Shafer's defenses from being respectable.

We have 20 sacks on the season and the Defensive Ends have 5 of them - or 25%.

The interior line has 8.5 so in total the DLine has 13.5 sacks out of 20.

The only thing that has essentially changed between last year and this year is the Coordinator. And one of his game plans was an embarrassment.

The secondaries problem has been largely too many blown coverage's - this I attribute to the Coordinators and coaching back there as a whole.

i doubt wake gets much if any sleep worrying about our new 3-4 - defense now that we got the kinks worked out:p

nobody has said this is an easy game its a toss up game, we're home so as fans we should expect to win. wake has played well against an nc state we outplayed severly and played an overrated Maryland team we got next week and a Miami team that has played poorly 3 weeks in a row but found a way to win. As long as wake forest isn't changing to option attack ill take our chances

wake came out flying and had 200 yds the first 3 drives then 170 on the last 8, really only moved the ball on the drive late the took back the lead the other 7 drives had 75 yds..

it will be the same story of our D.. make the other team drive the ball. limit the big plays and hold onto the ball on offense. miami ran for 5 yds a play.. can we do anything so we dont have to pass in bad spots.
