Well it's been a tough road for SU's rep this tournament.
Many talking heads don't think the team deserved to be in the tourney at all. That the first thing against us.
Mich St. losing amplified the hate by make our road that much "easier". #2 thing against us.
We've paid (currently paying) our dues with the NCCA infractions. That rep killer is #3 - hard to deny that.
The fact we are playing UNC keeps the narrative alive. And really hurts as there isn't much effort by the talking heads to separate what UNC is going through from Syracuse's case. #4
I think if #4 could have been eliminated (by UNC losing its sweet 16/E8 game). Then the narrative would be different. #1 and #2 would have run their course. #3 would still have been brought up but I don't think it's as hurtful in the present as it is tied to UNC's mess.
I don't buy into the mid-major thing. The ACC isn't a mid-major league.
The media is driving public opinion. That opinion is overwhelmingly accepted by the pedestrian viewer, a bandwagon opinion. This is why we have the electoral college for presidential elections
Well thought out. The UNC/SU game is a bit of bad luck for both of us. But we are heading out of the stream and they are heading in. I don't envy them.
