Why is officiating so bad?

Maybe it was so blatant by so many people he thought the ball was snapped?

It was well known long before SU joined the ACC that this conference had the worst officials in the NCAA. I just don't understand how the conference hasn't done anything about it in the last 15+ years.

It's almost like ACC officials are told not to call holding penalties.
Or pass intercerence when SU has the ball. Oh wait...tbey did call it against us.

On Pitt's last possession the QB was scrambling in the end zone when the Pitt player reached out and held the SU player tracking down the QB. The ref who has an unobstructed view from less than 10 feet away, literally reaches into his back pocket but nothing comes out. Safety and end of game - but no.

Still way too many dumb penalties, have to get that under control. For the life of me I don't understand the horse collar tackle, you can let him score there, its coming back for offsides anyway.
Three penalties to one during a change of possession. Even Steven there.

I realize that, but you know its a free play there, there is no need chancing a penalty there.

Call it the Conway Effect. Dumb and dumber.

Was the final line on the game SU -4.5?

If so, that non-call flipped the game.

Getting really tired of watching games that you can honestly question the integrity of the game.

I agree. Then minutes later i literally see narduzzi parting the headlinesman on the back and chatting during a timeout. Its at a different level this year. The games have zero rhythm. How about the phantom PI on ish om the first drive?

I think you have to send tape into the ACC office with the hold on Berry in the end zone on 3rd down near the end of the game. Ridiculous.

Not that the office cares, probably their direction to keep the game interesting as long as possible for TV.

I also saw Pitt have 12 men in an offensive huddle and one guy sprinted to the sideline. SU was flagged for Phillips running on and then off but never went into the huddle.

I'm sure they do that every week. I have a feeling, though, that they get this type of response:

Standard weekly procedure to send in film cut ups of questionable calls/situations on Sunday mornings. Coaches and officials work very hard to be on the same page...

Referees make many more mistakes than I ever thought. That being said, they also do some things tremendously well. Just like anything, people often see things differently, and there are people better at their jobs than others. Bad calls usually even out somewhat.

Here's what I don't understand. When it's third down, and you pass the ball, and it gets intercepted - enough to consider it "possession" - then that player loses the hall, and the the original offensive team regains possession, why isn't it First Down

We are tied with Ville for most penalties per game in ACC (8). GT is least penalized team with 3pg.

they missed another 12 men on the field call against Pitt this week too. caught ours though.
