Why is the defense so bad?

I would say this year’s is worse, mostly because it has to be the most disappointing unit failure since the 1989 offensive line.

Purdue/Georgia Tech bookend blowouts (2004)
Boston College (2019)

Note: I dismiss games like 59-0 to Miami (unreal team), Louisville (Lamar Jackson) and Michael Vick 62-0, because of transcendent talent.

When i predicted 6-6 in the preseason based on the offensive line and our poor (by ACC standards) recruiting classes under HCDB, I had no clue the defense would be this pathetic. STILL shocked at the performance of this group

just terrible gap integrity. For as good as Alton is, he's lost a lot of money because of his ineffectiveness in the run game. Don't get me started on the DTs, this is going to be more of the same next year unless someone comes in that can take snaps from Black (he has no business in there). LBs are a consistent issue and there will be new starters next year. T
