  1. The nation's leading passer currently resides in Syracuse, NY and Clemson's passing defense is 12th in the coun... oh... no? They're 12th in the ACC against the pass.

  2. Pick your poison Clemson: Syracuse has the #2 receiving TE in the country, as well as 5 other pass catchers with at least 8 receptions thus far.

  3. Clemson's offense is lost. They can't run (neither can we) and they also are struggling through the air. 14th in YPG through the air in the ACC as well as 15th in RPG in the ACC (we're 16, yuck)

  4. Klubnik was a heisman frontrunner. He and Nussmeier were 9/1 to win the award, behind Arch Manning (6/1). So far he's thrown 3 touchdowns, 3 interceptions, and against LSU and GT he is just over 53% completion percentage and 1TD to 2INT

  5. Clemson D is 69th in the country for team sacks with 6, Syracuse is T-117 with 3. Clemson has 2 1st round talents on the DL... we have... none of those.

This is no where near as detailed as SWC would provide.. but let's go Orange!!!

The efficiency of our passing game and converting in the red zone will tell the tale I believe. We cannot start slow, we have to apply pressure I think and make them have to throw and not control the ball with rushing with a lead.
And while I love how aggressive CFB can be, please please just take the points when you can.

I'll add my here this week:
  • Break the streak. We’ve lost six straight to Clemson, but we've had a couple of real close ones:
    • 2018 – led 23-13 with 12:58 left, lost 23-27
    • 2021 – lost 14-17
    • 2022 – led into the 4th, lost 21-27 after 17 Clemson points in the final quarter
    We’re due to finish one.

  • Eric Dungey & Baby Pacuse vibes. Our last win vs Clemson was 10/13/17 in the Dome. Saint Dungey willed us to victory that night — and the next day the Pacuse family grew by one. Maybe history and good karma are lining up again.

  • Quarterback advantage. Steve Angeli’s production through three games (over 1,000 yards, 8 TD, 2 INT) dwarfs Cade Klubnik’s (633 yards, 3 TD, 3 INT). If we protect Angeli, we can outgun them.

  • Receivers in rhythm. Gill Jr., Villari, JRS, and Cook account for 65% of our receiving yards (748 yards, 6 TD). Villari’s quick posts underneath plus Gill Jr. and Cook’s speed on the outside match up well with Clemson’s 4-2-5 defense.

  • Pressure Cade Klubnik. Klubnik’s 59% completion rate dips further under blitz (~46% vs LSU). With their LT (Leigh) and OG (Thurmon) out, we can attack the blind side and inside gaps. Luckily for use we don't have to sack him for him to make poor choices and throw into very tight windows.

  • Running game balance. A healthy Willis punishing Clemson’s front keeps the linebackers honest and opens up play-action. Nixon as a receiving threat out of the backfield adds another wrinkle.

  • Hidden yardage. Jack Stonehouse is a weapon — currently third nationally in net punting. Flipping the field makes Clemson’s struggling offense drive the length.

Posted in honor of our friend’s tradition and in memory of the day Saint Dungey and the Pacuse family’s miracle win coincided.

Wait, you’re expecting another baby on Sunday?

If we do, we have bigger miracles on our hands haha.
Just trying to drum up the miracle of '17 and all the amazing things that happened around it.
Should have thought of that 9 months ago!!!

Why we win
If we beat Clemson, it’s gonna be because we finally play our game start to finish. We lean on the run early, control the tempo, and let our big O-line wear them down. That opens up the passing game, and once Angeli gets in rhythm, we can hit them with shots downfield. We’ve got too many receivers for Clemson to cover everybody — if they focus on one, someone else is gonna eat.
Defensively, we’ve got to attack. No sitting back, no playing scared. Bring pressure, force Klubnik to move, and make him uncomfortable. If our front gets home, turnovers will come. And if Demetris Samuel Jr. and the secondary hold their own, we can actually flip the momentum with big stops.
Special teams could be the hidden key too — field position, a big return, maybe even a block. One spark like that can change everything in a tight game.
But the biggest thing? We gotta stay in it until the fourth quarter. If we’re still standing toe to toe with them late, that’s when our style pays off. Our offense keeps the ball, their defense gets tired, and then we hit them in the mouth when it matters most. If we do all that, we don’t just “hang around” — we walk out with the win.
