- There are two comparative scores. The one we focus on is Clemson 54 Syracuse 0, Pittsburgh, (the next week) 43 Clemson 42. But there’s another: Syracuse 31 Virginia Tech 17, Virginia Tech 39 Syracuse 36.
- Mahoney isn’t Dungey but he does pass long well and that’s the weakness of the Pitt defense: on the back end. We’ve got to give him time or he’s got to buy it with his feet.
- Pitt gives up a lot of points: 39, 45, 37, 34, 31, 39, 42. When we scored 33 against Colgate I thought that we’d exceed that total many times. We’ve got one more chance to do so and we just might do it.
- Two of our four wins have been on the road. Last year we were shut out away from the Dome. This year we know we can win the other team’s stadium.
- We have a secret weapon- Sterling Hofrichter. He make sure they have longer to go than we do. Their preference is to grind it out and it’s hard to run 8-10 games in row without something good happening for the defense.
- Brisley, Amba, Erv – we have guys who can make big plays that can turn game around. We need them to do so today.
- We still have something to play for and the team will be going for it.
