Why Syracuse will win
- Maybe our guys will try to win this one- and the bowl game for Dino, to suggest that he shouldn’t have been fired. Maybe.
- Our running game has been something to see these last two games. We had a 21-0 run vs. Pittsburgh and a 19-0 run vs. Georgia Tech. I don’t think Wake could sustain that and win.
- Wake has their own quarterback problems, (see below) and won’t be doing much scoring in this game.
- Wake is -6 on turnovers. If that continues, we’re going bowling.
5-6 and 1 – or 2 – to go!

This Wake team reminds me of the Wake teams we started out playing when we joined the ACC. They are almost comically bad on offense. They haven’t gotten over the departure of QB Sam Hartman who went to Notre Dame and led the Irish to a 45-7 win over his former teammates. That’s modern football. Maybe Hartman left because Wake’s offensive line is terrible – even worse than ours. They’ve only run for 130 yards and have given up 19 more sacks and 26 more TFLs than we have. Both teams have bad pass defenses. Unfortunately, we are hardly in a position to exploit theirs. But Wake has QB problems of their own. They’ve used three different guys. Junior Michael Kern passed for 81 yards against Al Golden’s defense. Hopefully, that turnover margin will hold up.
