- Because Syracuse is a 5-5 team with a chance to become bowl eligible. They lost last week and are 3-1 coming off a loss. Besides, Pittsburgh has a lot of injuries.
- Not all of our injuries are disastrous. You gotta love the Prince for all he’s done for us but George Morris and Devonte McFarland are both bigger, faster and better. Jarrod West was never cut out to be a #1 receiver. Chris Clark and Jeremiah Kobena at least have some speed. And Estime, Johnson and Whigham, for all their obvious ability, were not the starters at their positions.
- All the negative comparisons in the passing game are offset by the positive comparisons in the running game. Pittsburgh has the 112th best rushing attack of the 123 teams in the division, averaging 114 yards a game and 3.2 yards per carry. They can put people in the box vs. our running game but we can take dead aim at Mr. Savage and make it look like 2009 all over again because Pitt can’t hurt us with their running game.
- Pitt is 63rd against the run, giving up 160 yards per game and 4.3 per carry. That’s not awful but with the talent we can put on the field in this category, we can push that up over 200 yards and get 2-3 touchdowns out of it.
- Hmmm… Pittsburgh is 119th in the country in punt return defense, having given up 3 TDs. Brisley is not available but could this be Ritchey Desir’s big moment? Add in a couple of turnovers and maybe a blocked kick and it could be our ball game.
- The team has played one home game since October 5th. We need to welcome them home and push them over the top. Let’s make the Carrier Dome the loud house it was designed to be!
5-5 with 2, (or 3) to be
LET’S GO ORANGE!
