Why the game against Holy Family?

In Syracuse, there has been some joking regarding our game against Holy Family since there's a parish here by the same name that has a CYO team. I decided to look them up. I looked up Holy Family University to find out who they were so I might be able to figure out - why are we playing them, is there a connection? Well there is - here's a link to their head coach's bio. Thought somebody might be as crazy as I am and curious also.

Interesting, the first thing the new coach did was bring in a zone defense based on the Syracuse 2-3, the most famous defense in college basketball.

Part of the extensive grass roots Philadelphia basketball community. I see Herb Magee walking up in the park by my house, do a couple laps with him, talking hoops. It's awesome.

Why Holy Family and not the infamous Blue and White of Rosary's CYO? I knew it had to be the result of hidden connections

Holy Family game is on All Saints Day too. SU better be on miracle alert.

Why couldn't SU schedule Ryerson on February 2? Ah, well! Here's hoping future generations of insurance salesmen aren't emotionally scarred by the November 5 game.

I'd love to see one of the 20 students at the Ryerson game bring a Ned Ryerson big head. Of course that movie was released back when today's college kids were in diapers.
