I am very surprised in all of this analysis of our offense much more attention isn't given to how poor our oline is at run blocking. In the first half we did try to feature Jerome but the oline very rarely opens up holes and even more rarely pushes the dline backwards. Given that the coaches have gone with the guys with the speed to get outside and the ability to catch the ball neither of which Smith is the best at. Two straight games now our oline has not been able to run block at all. I really think this is the biggest problem with our offense... It's based on being able to establish the run first to open up the slants and bubble screens but the problem is we can't run so the safeties and lbs are all over our short passing game.
Last year was the first year in a decade we had a good oline, I really hope we don't have another 10 year drought. I am really worried about our ability to win recruiting battles for olinemen.
